Hi all - I'm trying to find out the expected oil pressure on a 3.0TD engine. 

My oil light came on the other day and since then I've replaced the oil sensor near the turbo and oil resistor in the cab. I'm waiting on the correct oil sensor near the starter to arrive. 

Despite changing the above and unplugging the sensor near the starter, the oil light still lights up once the engine is running.  

I've just put the oil pressure gauge on the top sensor unit bear the turbo and the readings I'm getting are:

Idle = 85/90 PSI or 6 Bar

Rev to 2,000 = 100 PSI or 7 bar

Rev to 3,000 = 115PSI or almost 8 bar 

Are these figures ok or is it running high? Cant find any definite figures online for this engine, so appreciate you're help.

Oil pressures look fine,

however which model year is yours?  If it is 2007 onwards then ECM is measuring the actual oil pressure from RHS unit.  

 

Oil Pressure is monitored via the ECM with the utilisation
of an Oil Pressure Sensor which is located at the RH
rear of the engine.
In addition to the Oil Pressure Sensor there is an Oil
Pressure Switch located at the LH front of the engine,
above the oil filter. This switch will ground & illuminate
the ‘red oil can’ warning light when there is close to 0 Oil
Pressure.
The above mentioned Oil Pressure SENSOR is
connected directly to the ECM. If the ECM measures
specific pressures at certain engine speeds &
temperatures, the ECM will signal the Instrument Cluster
to illuminate the RED OIL CAN warning light on the
Instrument Cluster.

So the best place the to tap the after market oil pressure guage is on the RHS sensor near the start?

Well technically yes that would be correct however it is a very tight spot to fit aftermarket sensor in there if there is already one fitted (Series 4 onwards).

Hi, what did you end up finding was the problem , I have one with exactly the same symptoms and oil pressure, over 100psi at idle !! 
 

desperatly need help !
