Eighth generation, unveiled globally in September 2024. Not yet released in Australia as of March, 2025, but confirmed for right-hand-drive production, with sales expected to begin in late 2026. Features a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 petrol engine (317kW/700Nm) with a nine-speed automatic and adaptive air suspension. Nissan Australia has expressed intent to bring it to market, replacing the Y62, though exact specs for Australia (e.g., potential diesel options) remain unconfirmed.

Seventh generation, introduced in Australia in February 2013. A major shift to a luxury-focused SUV with a 5.6L V8 petrol engine (VK56VD, 298kW/560Nm) and a seven-speed automatic transmission. No diesel option, unlike its Y61 predecessor, which limited its appeal to some traditional buyers. Features ALL MODE 4x4 and hydraulic body motion control. Updates in 2024 added wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto for Australian models. Still in production as of March 2025, though its V8 powertrain is considered dated by some.

Sixth generation in Australia, introduced in 1999 as the GU Patrol. A long-running and iconic model, with production for the Australian market ending around 2016 (though it continued elsewhere globally until 2023). Early models had a 4.5L petrol inline-six (TB45) or 2.8L turbo-diesel (RD28), later replaced by the 3.0L turbo-diesel (ZD30) and 4.8L petrol (TB48). Updates (e.g., GU Series II in 2001) refined engines and interiors. Available in wagon, cab-chassis, and ute configurations.

Fifth generation globally, launched in Australia in 1988 as the GQ Patrol. A significant upgrade with coil-spring suspension options (on some models) and a boxier, modern design. Engine options included the 3.0L inline-six petrol (RB30S), 4.2L petrol (TB42), and 4.2L diesel (TD42). Variants like the ST and Ti added luxury features over time.

Third generation in Australia, introduced in 1980. Marketed as the Nissan Patrol MQ (and later MK with updates). Offered with a 3.3L diesel inline-six or 4.0L petrol inline-six. Short- and long-wheelbase options were available, with leaf-spring suspension.

Released in Australia as part of the second global generation. Known simply as the Nissan Patrol, it featured a 4.0L inline-six petrol engine and was available in short- and long-wheelbase versions. A basic, utilitarian 4x4 popular in rural areas.
