Under bonnet power wire?????

I have the wire for my IC thermo relay and the alternator sensor wire connected to the power wire to the wipers. When the thermo and wipers are both on, my alt, hand break and sub tank light flash as the wipers sweep the screen. Is there another ignition switched wire somewhere under the bonnet that I can use and give the sensor wire a better dose of power? The lights stay out when I run the sensor wire from the battery.

the above mentioned dash lights stayed on until I ran a sensor wire from an ignition switched power wire to the sensor on the alt (factory wire must have a break somewhere). Now when I use the wipers with the thermo fan going the three lights flash. I dont want to poke another wire through the fire wall, it would be much easier to find one under the bonnet. I was just hoping that somebody had found an easy one to get to.

I run the power to my intercooler fan and thermatic switch from the blue wiper motor wire. It's an ignition on, only, power source. Connecting alternator or instrument wires to this is not a good solution, you need to find the source of the problem, else bigger issues may arise.

Run a solenoid from the ignition on wire from the wiper or inside the cab, then distribute from that

That would have been a great idea. Why didnt I think of that???? Rather than running another wire from the Ignition like I did today. I have a 100 amp solenoid in the shed lol

On the GUs the alternator sense wire is fused.

There are three lots of fuses used in the Patrol, the common ones under the dash in the right hand side panel, under the bonnet on the drivers's side, in front of the battery, and fusible links. The alternator, according to my manual, uses all three fuses.

The alternator sense fuse is located in the fusebox under the bonnet, on the plastic cover it is labeled as "ALT S".

There was a guy on another forum over the weekend who also said he did not have power at the alternator for the sense circuit and his fuse was not blown, so there might be a common problem in the harness somewhere.

Did you check for broken wires about and inch away from the alternator plug? it is common for for breaks to occur there.

I looked at all the fuses at the time and none were blown. The wires all seemed ok but as soon as I put power to the sensor wire, the dash lights went out. I then ran another wire from the wiper blue wire. Since I started this thread I re ran the wire and sourced power from the heater motor wire at the fuse box. All is well again.
