Hi guys, just wondering if any one could help. It could be nothing. I just put a deposit down on a used patrol, 2012 zd30 from a car yard in Hornsby. To my concern in the roof gutter rails on both sides it has a hard gooy looking stuff same colour as car down them. I'm not to sure if this is normal. I just went to my local nissan dealer and looked in their yard at a brand new patrol and down the roof gutter rails it was different. It just had painted metal with like little spot weld dimples down both sides. Any help appreciated. I don't pay and pick up car until Saturday. Thanks Steve.

I thought most vehicles with those types of gutters had some type of sealant along them, as well as the welds. Just went and looked at my truck and it has, and it definitely has never had any repair work near or on the roof. Can't remember the new term, but there are check you can do REVS Certificates to check history/ insurance repairs etc.

Thanks for that fathom. It just seemed a bit weird it had the roof racks missing and all this like thick hard rubber putty/silicon stuff all down the gutter rails. As it was the Simpson 50th edition patrol that have roof racks in the package. Could be any reason for that tho. I have only checked one other patrol in that roof area and it was nothing like my one. I am getting a pre vehicle inspection done on the truck tomorrow to check it over before I cough over the hard earned money on Saturday. I hope all is good

Mine has that stuff in roof gutters too and it is 05 model.

 

With CrD ZD30 you should be reasonably OK, some have is excessive fuel consumption (16-18 L per 100 km) but it is a lottery to find which one.

Nissan of course blames everything aftermarket so if you have roof rack, bull bar, snorkel, 2" lift etc not their fault.
