June 11, 201213 yr comment_4701 So low voltage as during starting the the truck or during engine running? Now this load testing batteries business if your battery is flat how can you load test it? Woudn't you charge the battery first on the bench/out of vehicle and than load test it to se if it is able to maintain the charge. I'm just curious because I'm watching mine to fail (still the original Jap unit so I know it is coming) but observing voltages makes me none wiser as when I initially turn the ignition on and glow plugs go about their biz voltage drops to about 11.5V than the engine starts and alternator is charging nicely. So I took the battery out and charged it separately only the charger gave up after an hour saying "fully charged"! So now it is down to 11.7V when glow plugs heat up. Haven't load tested it yet I feel sorry for the old girl (battery). Cheers Report
June 11, 201213 yr Author comment_4714 I have my alarm set at 10.5v, it was dropping to 9.5v the last few days, the extra cold wasn't helping but it shouldn't get that low. You should knock off any flash charge prior to load testing. Report
November 10, 201312 yr comment_7610 I set the alarms for everything I could, coolant temp 95° C, RPM 4200, batt voltage 10.5 V. Recently I was driving in really deep sand and completely paid no attention to anything but getting bogged except when alarm started going off on coolant and RPMs. Backed off quick smart. June 19, 20169 yr comment_8849 KIWI 3 is pure OBD2 adapter which means it will not work with Nissan vehicles which use Consult 1 and 2 interface and protocol. While Patrol GU4 series uses what what looks like OBD2 plug that as far as it goes, the protocol is still Nissan Consult 2. Patrol Y61 vehicles sold after 2007 in Australia and equipped with common rail version of ZD30 engine have OBD2 plug and use OBD2 protocol so KIWI3 adapter will work with those. ECU Talk will not so you can't compare those two. Regards Report
