Ray!
Here is a summary of another example of how the climate saviours keep tripping over themselves: Official: the more scientifically illiterate you are, the more you believe in 'climate change' A US government-funded survey has found that Americans with higher levels of scientific and mathematical knowledge are more sceptical regarding the dangers of climate change than their more poorly educated fellow citizens. The results of the survey are especially remarkable as it was plainly not intended to show any such thing: Rather, the researchers and trick-cyclists who carried it out were doing so from the position that the "scientific consensus" (carbon-driven global warming is ongoing and extremely dangerous) is a settled fact, and the priority is now to find some way of getting US voters to believe in the need for urgent, immediate and massive action to reduce CO2 emissions. http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100161868/official-the-more-scientifically-illiterate-you-are-the-more-you-believe-in-climate-change/ The harder they try, the harder they keep falling. Ray!
Here's an interesting factoid: “In the newspaper business, and other journalistic domains as well, fires are of note. Non-fires aren’t. Fair enough. But something very insidious has taken place. The selling of weather disasters as entertainment has led to a state in which big business stands to gain handsomely from the perception that the planet has gone meteorologically mad. Specifically, General Electric stands to profit. When in 2008 NBC (owned by General Electric) purchased The Weather Channel, an interesting thing took place: the largest domestic producer of wind turbines became the owner of the best-positioned purveyor of images of destructive weather. The same year, NBC’s Today Show continued its longstanding practice of “showing” the great destruction to the ocean-atmosphere system caused by manmade global warming, with story after story: fires, floods, melting Kilimanjaro, you name it. The rest of NBC News, and the Weather Channel, meanwhile, keep the same pieces of videotape on nearly infinite repeat.” It puts a new tint on the phrase “business news” — is that news relevant to your business or mine? For the record, GE owns Universal Studios, Telemundo, NBC Universal Global Networks (MSNBC, CNBC, NBC WeatherPlus, WeatherPlus, and WeatherChannel plus lots more.) http://joannenova.com.au/2012/06/spot-the-conflict-ge-owns-nbc-the-weather-channel-and-lots-and-lots-of-wind-turbine-factories/ Makes an interesting contrast to the oft repeated statement that Big Oil is funding the climate sceptics. twisty
Here is a summary of another example of how the climate saviours keep tripping over themselves: http://blogs.telegra...climate-change/ The harder they try, the harder they keep falling. Oh Ray, a blog quoting a tabloid, with a bit of spin (Warnie would be proud). I had to gather my thoughts on this one (a big job with so little to work with), hence the late reply. The quote below is from the research article at nature.com. our findings could be viewed as evidence of how remarkably well-equipped ordinary individuals are to discern which stances towards scientific information secure their personal interests. I can understand denial. Doesn't make it right though. How about this at the ABC? The research is here. "We did it. No matter how you look at it, we did it. That's it," Yup, we did it. And, as for GE, they're just trying to make some money, that's all. Edited June 11, 2012 by twisty

Rumcajs
I can't be bothered with facts/myths especially confusing facts/myth. There are two sides of coins in this debate and both have vested interest. The myth that carbon tax can save the planet is one of them. I'm not denying that us humans shaping the planet the way we do does not have consequences and all that polution we put in to atmosphere has to go somewhere and do something but I hate the hypocrasy and outright lies on how to correct the problem that humans living in on the planet is. Number one problem is over population Number two problem is greed Number three problem is resources or lack off. admin

twisty
Number one problem is over population Population is the only problem. Exterminate the humans, the planet will be just fine.
Ray!
bwaaa ... hahahahaha. If it isn't perfect, it isn't right? From the author of a skeptics handbook! C'mon Ray, bit more effort please You should read the entire story. The new scare that was put out by the warmongerers was fatally flawed and those flaws were picked up by some astute skeptics and now the entire report has effectively been binned. If only the warmongerers could stick to facts and the scientific method. Cheers Ray
bigbluemav
Number one problem is over population Number two problem is greed Number three problem is resources or lack off. Very well put Rumcajs! But #1 and #2 might need to be transposed; your #1 can't/won't be addressed until #2 is addressed as the greedy see the (over)population as a potential market. Interms of environmental damage, over population is the big one that is not being addressed in any real, meaningful way. There is an issue with both sides having vested interests, but a few hundred scientists 'creating' a market for research grants pales in comparison when compared with the vested interests of those who's future (present?) profits are at threat. One thing that does scare me is the closing down of environmental programs that were changing the way we do things (in a positive way). In Qld the new Govt seems to be closing every program that even smells 'environmental' so their climate change denier status can be preserved. Seems to run counter to common sense!
