Been looking at getting a new winch but come across these different ratios. so, the big question, I have a Warn winch now with a 156:1 but have also seen winches with 265:1, 218:1 all with between 4.5kw and 5kw motors. so does it make a lot of difference what you have, talking between 9000lbs and 14000lbs. cheers.

I got an e-mail from the patrol4x4.com site a few days ago telling me there was a reply to a thread i was following. When I click on it it won't open up that forum. It gives me an error - operation timed out. I spoke to some other guys with me here is South Africa that also check in on that site from time to time, and they also cannot get onto that site. Does anyone know whats happening there with that site?

Unless you have lived under a rock or just returned from a very long trip to the Outback the outrages intrusion of Australian government in to individuals privacy has commenced a couple of days ago. In quick summary, every action you do online or using carriage service will be logged and kept for 2 years to be perused at will and most importantly without a court obtained warrant. Australian government agency can now profile and established from the digital crumbs one leaves behind a complete picture of what that person does, who he/she associates, and whereabouts. 20. Started by Glort,

A couple of weeks back, a friend of mine woke up in the night to the sound of running water. Getting up to investigate he put his feet on the bedroom floor and the water was almost ankle deep. The flexible hose on the bathroom sink tap had blown out and the mat was covering the drain hole so the water spilled out all through the house by the time he heard it and woke up. Major problems and ruined contents. Tonight the Mrs was cooking dinner and panicked when she saw "smoke" coming out of the sink cupboard. Opening it she got sprayed with hot water. When we cleared the sodden mess out, the braided hose for the flick mixer tap I put in less than 2 years ago had split…

Sort of ... Glort mentioned an interest in power (electricity) generation and storage (excerts below with comments and questions). I share his interest but I'm an ex-(aircraft) electrician and I've forgotten more than I remember .... although I can still explain helicopter advancing blade theory. The shit you remember! I've got some 250 acres with cows, dams and no running water. The sheds roof areas are north facing and about 1200m2 with 100k litres storage in 5 plastic tanks. We are mains connected with the ability to connect a generator (petrol) if the power goes out. Fitting a grid feed in system would be part of the mix. And ... being a greedy farmer, if…

  23. I'm hoping some one has a blown turbo they can pull the parts from.. I have a Garrett T3 turbo, and I'm chasing the following. vacuum actuator for the waste gate, don't need the brackets but would be nice. Same with oil lines, if you have some lying around. And I'm really hoping someone has upgraded the original manifold and didn't throw it out.. If you have any or all of it please let me know a price. As long as it works..
