Need new brakes for my 2003 3.0l & was wondering what people are using?

I've still got OEM fitted but when they wear out I'm going to fit the softer ones, like for 4.8 L Patrol (OEM front only) apparently they fit and braking performance is greatly improved. They appear to be softer compound so choosing that way a better braking is obtained, down side is quicker wear.....

I'd guessed the common theme is better braking softer coumpound and quicker wear and if it is the longevity than harder compounds and less braking effect.

I still have OEM fitted too. I had my brake fluid replaced which helped a bit, but am at about 30% left on my pads so probably time to start thinking about replacing them before any big trips at the end of the year. Let us know how you go with the softer pads, and also whatever the OP decides to do.

As a side note on brake pad longinativity (spelling?) Since I had my auto trans fluid flushed and replaced with transmaxZ I have found that when I'm rolling down a steep hill in low 1st Im not using the brakes so much.. must save the pads a bit, and prevent fade...

I'm still on the original pads and have done over 100,000km and there's at least 50% left on the rear and more on the front. I guess a lot has to do with the fact that I drive my auto like I did my manuals; anticipating and always using engine braking to slow down.

Thanks rumcajs I'll give the 4.8 front pads a try & see if they feel better

I ordered some Bendix 4wd pads today, $50 for front and $50 for rear.. best price I could find for genuine Bendix 4wd pads.

Will fit them on the weekend, overnight delivery should get them to me tomorrow...

Not sure mate.. I did some research and most people say they are really good.. not too hard and not too soft.. I'll update on sat once I have fitted them.. assuming I don't break something (pardon the pun)
