Dylan91
Hey guys just wondering if anyone on here has turboed a gq patrol td42 motor? What is the best turbo and what do i need to do it? I have done a search and didnt come up with much seeing as there are only 5 threads to search through. Any info / pics would be helpful. Cheers Dylan Hehehe... Arch Nemisis
Gday , well it all boils down to budget suprisingly . Or how many rear wheel kws you chasing. the full monty might be modified pump from Matt at United fuel injection on WA or one of Swaffies. Probably a tricked upTD05 off United as well. Then Id recomend a Laminova Intercooler of Matt McInnes, a water to air jobbie. When all that comes together you will find your clutch slips so get yourself a Dodge Viper Clutch upgrade from NPC. So Ive just spent about $10k of your folding stuff ! Easy hey! HAve fun
mikegq
Can be very expensive depending what u want mate i have a GT2870 dts manifold and beaudesert 3" zorst and that cost me about 6k i did all the fitting my self then got a second hand gu IP as mine was making out 800 buks(now needsarebiuld) then got a cheap FMIC off ebay brand new from NZ and al the piping I brought local, so say another 400 for that then i added a catch can 250 plus all the other bits and pieces, dyno tuning etc and im still not hapy with 108kw. an 17psi I wouldnt buy a second hand pump like I did, id get a rebiult unit straight up. im gonna go for a 12mm swaffie when i have the money
Tristan
All depends on what you are wanting out of it mate! Also let us know the build year of it so we know if it's got the stronger internals. I believe td42s built before august 1994 had heavier pistons with 28mm gudgeon pins which are much better suited to turbo applications.

I think the easiest way to tell is whether it's a TD42 silver top or black top motor. The silver tops are the stronger motor and better suited to turboing. BigGQWesty
How many K's has your bus done? I did think about doing mine, but at 480,000 I think I'll just wait till it pops then get a recon'd turbo'd engine..
Glort
I have been wondering If toyota or Commodore Supercharger might be a cheaper way to go? I would be chasing an increase in torque rather than max power. Pretty sure the stock pump could provide a reasonable increase if I could get the air in.
