Nissan Patrol GQ/Y60 & Ford Maverick (GQ Patrol, 1988–1997)

Fifth generation globally, launched in Australia in 1988 as the GQ Patrol. A significant upgrade with coil-spring suspension options (on some models) and a boxier, modern design. Engine options included the 3.0L inline-six petrol (RB30S), 4.2L petrol (TB42), and 4.2L diesel (TD42). Variants like the ST and Ti added luxury features over time.

    So I thought the wheel bearings where on there way out and purchased a new set (both sides) pulled the offending side apart cleaned it all up and guess what, they have already been done by the previous bloke. (I've had her for 18 months) so now I'm stumped to what is causing the noise, it only happens when I turn left while under power, could it be the suspension? The front shocks have been replaced but the rest all look original as they are all black.

    I have a1997 Y60 Nisan Patrol that has developed a violent and nasty shaking of the steering wheel when it meets even slight road unevenness at speeds above 60km/hr. Changed front shocks and carried out wheel balance and alignment, but problem persists. Will appreciate ideas as to what to do next to resolve the problem.

    Hey Lads, first ever post, Recently picked up a 1992 model TB42E and I temp guage doesn’t work, gets to maybe 1/4 of the full guage, threw a new temp sensor in and still the same, is it possible I have a faulty thermostat as my heater also seems piss weak? Cheers

  9. fitted new drums and wheel clyinders to rear, new pads to frount adjusted brakes, new master clyinder, pressure bleed all wheels and cant get more than qtr of brake pedal!!!!! any help out there would love to here, this is driving me up the wall

    I recently bought a top mount cross country intercooler for my maverick and was told by their salesman after sending him a pic of my top mount set up that it will fit. Im running a schwitzer dyn125? Turbo and the wastegate actuator is right in the way of the pipe leaving the intercooler unit. Is there anyway around this cheaply?

    So I recently purchased a swb safari 1989 24v, beautiful car although soon after purchasing the head unit stopped working along with the uhf(on a reducer) and front spotties, it happened after I charged the batteries, have checked the fuses under the steering wheel and they look fine, wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and what they did, not much of an auto electrician so any help or advise towards troubleshooting and making things work again would be great and I can't think of what to do or where to start

Iam about to fully rebuild it and was wondering what mods to do to gain more power, i do intend to turbo it so what cam, do i bore it and go oversize etc etc. What intake to use, exuast etc. With a budget of $3-4k already owning a turbo and possibly intercooler, any info would be appreciated cheers

    I have just put a 7inch lift kit and 35s on my gq patrol and ive taken it out for a test and when i put it in 4x4 (manuel lockin hubs) my front tyres are not spinning pnly my back ones are so i have no 4x4. theres a grinding clonking sound thats sounds like it coming from the front of the car when i try driving it in 4x4. i think my diffs gone but i want to be sure

I want to ditch the dickie seat in the back to make room for some draws I have and a fridge but need 6 seats.     can anyone tell me where to get my factory Diff locker repaired in Brisbane. Prior to upgrading from the factory solinoid, it was locking and staying locked after sitting for a few days, some times it would disengage when starting the car, but on a few occassions it wouldnt unlock until after driving several hundred meters and would disenage with a bang/clang. Hind sight is 20/20 I should have stopped and swapped the vacuum hoses around, but when I got around to upgrading from the factory solinoids to an MAC, I got two 4wd trips in after the upgrade before another loud bang/clang. now when I turn the diff locker on it sometimes locks but more often I hear the sound of th…

    Hey guys Just went out to change the front diff oil on my 1988 nissan safari Dropped oil into a measured can and frount diff had 8.4L in it Have had problems with this truck making funny noises from thw front would this be the problem as manual says fill up to 5.4L Any help would be much appreciated
