Hi guys, So my 01 gu has been having some problems from time to time, and not sure really what it is.. Scenario is. Low range, first gear, steep decent. So I am off the brakes letting motor and gearbox do its job. Then all of a sudden I hear a cluck/knock, car lurches forward for a sec, then goes back to holding its own wait. I am not sure if it is me or not but it feels like steering gets a bit tighter right before the knock. It only happens in this scenario. Low range, under acceleration is fine, it just when the wait of the car is on it. Any ideas, happy to hear them all? Cheers Olly

Almost feel like saying, are the tyres loosing grip? Or is it one of the suspension components moving/worn?

Well I am taking a punt and getting rid of the auto hubs. New manual ones going on this weekend. Then see if that helps this. Will report back once tested.

How are your tyre diameters?

Even though you have all the same size, the actual rolling diameter differs brand to brand.

So yes, you auto hubs could be disengaging, but this would easily be fixed by changing the auto hub to the locked position..

Aaand, converting the auto hubs to manual only is a 15 mins job and is reversible.

Tyre dia should all be the same. Tyres are all the same replaced at the same time.

How did the New hubs go?

Hi mate. I have swapped them for manual hubs, but haven't had a chance to lock it in 4x4 since, so not sure yet if I have fixed the issue. I will update here when I know.
