    Hey guys so i have had this annoying oil leak on my 2011 gu patrol (CRD) since I have bought it. I have been using about 1 Litre of oil every 1 - 2 weeks or around every 600 km of driving its pretty bad and finally have had enough. The mechanics have told me it's an engine out job? not sure if that is true though. So i have been told it is the oil feed line on the drivers side of the block or the vacuum pump? my question is, Is the vacuum pump directly above the starter motor? I did see the oil feed line ( i think) that goes into the side of the block on the drivers side but don't know where it goes to.. looks like a difficult position to reach. Would appreciate an…

    Hey brains trust. So I bought a td42 patrol and am looking at engine swapping it. The problem I'm having is the engine swap requires zd30 engine chassis mounts (the ones welded to the chassis) and have been told I'd have to change the mounts to zd30 mounts to suit the engine mounts for my engine swap. I understand it's a bit of a stuff around but I still want to go down this path. The problem I'm having is I can find replacement mounts for the passenger side (see attached link) but can't seem to find any driver side mounts. Is this because I'm looking in the wrong spot or do the patrol driver side chassis engine mounts the same on all models. Also if anyone can shed some …

    hi guys I have a tb42 turbo and need to lower the compression so I can run on 95 octane. i’m running 10.5 lb boost at 1800 rpm on 98 octane at the moment an I just put 2 head gaskets on? cheers sorry can i just put 2 head gaskets on ?

    Good day mates. I'm new to the forum and wanna thank you for the great discussions that are already out. My truck is a 93 model LWB TD42 silver top. I'm thinking about upgrading the engine with a turbo. I read that, to get more power out of it I would have to upgrade the pump as well. So my question is, if I have to buy a 2k+ 12mm pump or if there is a way to get this done like some kind of backyard job. Just changing distributor head or is there more work involved?   13. Hi I have a 1999 gu with a gq td4.2 engine conversion done on it it was originally a 2.8 and I need a gear box for it 5 Spd manual and I don’t know how to tell the difference between the 2 other than the price when trying to find one. Any help at all would be really appreciated. Thanks

    Hi guys I recently bought this 2.8 diesel turbo GQ and just come up with a glow plug issue. One of my mate gave me this td42 gq glow plugs and 3 plugs seems to be fitting ok but others aren't.     has anyone experienced a leaking rear main seal in a gu 4.2TD after increasing their turbo boost pressure. I went from 12pd to 18pd and suddenly got a leaking rear main , could be just a coincidence or maybe more internal sump pressure. running 2871 garret turbo with ultimate cross country intercooler. cheers phil.

  17. So your turbo is leaking oil or your bearings have worn out? Checking that your turbo is not being over or under supplied is easy. The way we do it where i work is : Make sure oil level in sump is good. One person in car with stop watch and another under the hood. Remove oil feed line to turbo and any fittings in top of turbo fit back to oil feed line. You need to catch the oil in a measuring jug. Start the engine run at idle and when the oil comes out the line start timing 15 secs. Shut engine off, running turbo for 15secs at idle is not a problem but if you have to repeat test use oil can to pump some oil into oil feed. You then times the amount of oil caught by 4 to ge…

  20. As mentioned in my intro, I hail from South Africa and own a Patrol GU Y61 4.8... I am having endless issues with the difflock and have been without the vehicle for 7 weeks previously, as Nissan SA try and source the parts... It has now broken again, and Nissan South Africa claims they do not have the correct parts, and that Nissan Japan keep sending them the incorrect parts... Please, If you guys could help me get the correct part codes for the spyder gears and y-lever I would be extremely happy... Any other advice or assistance would be highly appreciated..

    So 2 days from Christmas and the engine mounts shat themselves. Lol. A few days prior to doing the job I sprayed all the bolts in penetrene. So being an NA td42 the passenger side was quite easy. All from above the guard. I used a socket an wrench for all the bolts, then the 2 bottom bolts into the mount needed the wobble end. Drivers side is more difficult but I did all mine from under the car. Used a socket and wrench for all but 2 bolts again. The 2 bottom block bolts need a spanner. All bolts require a 17mm socket or spanner. Was happy about that. First up I removed the main battery and sub battery if fitted. This gives you a much bigger work area and visib…

    I know this will have limited interest but I noticed that the RE4R03A rebuild threads don't go into much detail on how to overhaul the valve body. This one happens to be a Nomad valve body that I bought used from a trans that had suffered an oil pump mishap so it had to be completely dismantled to make sure it was spotless. First you need to print out the relevant pages of the FSM and preferably put them under plastic. I also have the pages for the full trans overhaul in there as well. Prepare a nice clear workspace for yourself. I have this fairly big steel leg laminated table I got from the dump for $10. I used black plastic initially but it didn't like…

Its Hard to start and is only running on 3 cylinders and very very smokey, (black smoke) so i have replaced injectors and injector copper washers and o rings (oil seals ) installed a new fuel filter and replaced all fuel lines, new maff sensor also new fuel , taken off the turbo and cleaned out and intercooler and all pipes /lines cleaned properly and nothing changed , so i then checked the injector wiring harness so i pulled the plugs off one by one with the engine running, and if i pull off # 2 it almost stalls and so on, 3, and 4 i…

    Hi guys, So my 01 gu has been having some problems from time to time, and not sure really what it is.. Scenario is. Low range, first gear, steep decent. So I am off the brakes letting motor and gearbox do its job. Then all of a sudden I hear a cluck/knock, car lurches forward for a sec, then goes back to holding its own wait. I am not sure if it is me or not but it feels like steering gets a bit tighter right before the knock. It only happens in this scenario. Low range, under acceleration is fine, it just when the wait of the car is on it. Any ideas, happy to hear them all? Cheers Olly
