Got a problem with my Drivers windows when cold

Featured Replies

Got a problem with my Drivers windows when cold, if I press the auto button to wind it up, it will wind up all the way then back down about 3 inches, have only discovered this problem in the last week or so on cold mornings, if I keep pressing on the switch it will wind all the way up. anyone experienced this before? If so how did you fix it, what was the problem?
Cheers

Mate, it appears you have a problem with the "interuption detection logic" aka anti-pinch function. Possibly your window winder is putting up extra resistance when cold and that causes the controller to activate the function in auto mode. Or the limit switch is dodgy. You can reset the system apparently.
 See bellow:

INTERRUPTION DETECTION FUNCTION

CPU (combined with power window main switch) monitors the power window regulator motor operation and
the power window position (full closed or other) for driver’s power window by the signals from encoder and
limit switch in front power window regulator (driver’s side).
When CPU (combined with power window main switch) detects interruption during the following close opera-
tion in the driver’s side door,
1⁄4 automatic close operation when ignition switch is in the “ON” position
1⁄4 automatic close operation during power window timer operation
1⁄4 manual close operation during power window timer operation
CPU (combined with power window main switch) controls driver’s power window regulator motor for open and
the power window will be lowered about 150 mm (5.91 in).

Front Door Limit Switch Reset (Driver side

only)
RESET CONDITIONS
After each of the following operations are performed, reset the limit
switch (with built-in motor).
1⁄4 Regulator removal and installation
1⁄4 Removal of motor from regulator
1⁄4 Operation of regulator as a single unit
1⁄4 Door glass removal and installation
1⁄4 Glass run removal and installation
RESET PROCEDURES
After installing parts, proceed as follows:
1. Close the door window completely.
2. Press the reset switch and open the door window completely.
3. Release the reset switch. After making sure the reset switch
has returned to the original position, close the door window
completely.
4. The limit switch is now reset.
CAUTION:
Be sure to manually open or close the door window. (Do not
use the automatic open-close procedures.)

Reset switch is a part of the winder.

Do all the Patrols have this? I don't recall seeing any reset switch on my doors when I fitted new speakers. I know here is South Africa the models we have are possibly slightly different. We only got the GU model from 1998, and the td42 ( N/A ) only from 1998 to 1999. From 2000 onwards it was only ZD30 available. The TB45 from 1998 to 2004 and then TB48 from 2005 to current ( I stand corrected on these dates for the petrol Patrols )

Mine is a 1999 GU TD42.

Mine was originally a 2000 ZD30, but was converted to a TD42 by the previos owners...
