May 6, 20169 yr comment_8777 Dumb question but when replacing the air filter for the first time since I got the car last year, I notice that there is a tube in the middle of it which seems to go no where, What is its purpose? Do I need to block it off for my snorkel properly? Thank in advance Report
May 6, 20169 yr comment_8779 is it not a water outlet.... or am I barking up the wrong tree.... Are you talking about the filter itself or the air box? Hey I have blonde hair.... that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.....hahahaha Report
May 6, 20169 yr Author comment_8780 Its part of the box, right in the center, the filter goes around it... Report
May 8, 20169 yr comment_8785 That's to centre the filter I suppose, mine looks different but it has something similar to the lower section without that tube extending upwards, perhaps earlier design. Also the lower lip is to act as a barrier should the water get inside the filter box hence the drain hole outside of it. Many people mistakenly block it and then face the consequences, although jury is still out in regards to it. Regards Edited May 8, 20169 yr by Rumcajs Report
May 9, 20169 yr comment_8790 The drain is the small hole seen there opposite the air intake port (no one-way valve either, long swims will end badly). The centre stork has an acoustic chamber under the airbox to help (apparently) the greenies sleep better. Report

May 9, 20169 yr Author comment_8800 Mine has got a 3 inch exhaust, but when I put my foot down doesn't sound grunty at all. I hear some patrols drive by and you can hear the turbo whistling and they sound like a v8 but are only 4.2's. if I block off the resonator in my air filter will it give a better tone? what else can/should I do to make it sound like a beast? Just make sure it is straight through (no muffler) then you'll have some noise you are after but why? It makes no sense, it attracts unwanted attention and makes no difference to performance and is downright annoying after while .I ain't greenie either, it is not pleasant sitting in the vehicle for hours with loud exhaust for sure and I should know, have some experience in that, how about 19 L diesel V12 with straight through 6" pipes (can hear it .several kays away shifting gears.....or straight six 12 L turbo intercooled beast is enough after 20 mins especially with 7" exhaust pipe, all you can hear is turbo spooling up and droning during the cruising enough to give you massive headache within short period of time....Noise is a pollution not rock n' roll..... Its possibly different experience when you can actually have performance drive like on track or nice twisty hilly run in a sports car but in Patrol, LOL! Speaking of engine noises check this screamer out ==> 3.0 L flat 8 Porsche 908-3 its pure sex with your ears action! Edited May 10, 20169 yr by Rumcajs Report
May 10, 20169 yr comment_8804 I have found the straight-through systems to be nothing more than a droning mess. Hence why I went for the muffler. If you want Turbo whine that isn't a loud annoyance, fit a K&N filter that doesn't dampen so much of the intake whine from the snail. I also use a silicone hose to replace the awefull factory intake pipe and resonator. Report

May 11, 20169 yr comment_8809 Damn right! AC/DC at max volume. I drove 16 L turbo charged intercooled straight six with 610 ponies with 6" stack no muffler for an hour today, my head still hurts.... Regards Report

LOL She pulled her phone out and called her boyfriend, Chopper then got on the phone and told him to harden the f*** up and he was a pussy for staying at home. Priceless moment. Report
