It doesn't matter how you aim HIDs in a reflector that cant be aimed at all period. This is why people are pissed off with HIDs and there getting a bad name. Halogens go in reflectors and HIDs go in Projectors. There is a massive difference between the 2. Those HIDs in that link are no different to any other $20 HID kit on the market except good marketing. No reflector shield will stop the reflection of the light going into the reflector and reflecting back into peoples eyes. If your not going to convert them properly I wouldn't do it at all you will probably get flashed until you remove them anyway. Not to mention there high beams are totally usless. It only costs an extra $100 for projectors and they leave those kits for dead. Cheers Mick.

Lock up convertor mod
Has anyone done the lock up converot mod here? I've been told it's really easy and just requires cutting a wire running it though a relay and back to a switch on the dash. Is it really this easy or am I missing something? Cheers Mick.

Any HID bulb going into a standard reflector will blind oncoming traffic. The only way to set up HID lighting correctly is installing HID projectors then installing HID bulbs. A proper HID bulb doesn't have high and low built into the bulb it's controlled by a solenoid which operated the cut off which looks like an eyelid covering half the bulb. When you hit high beam the solenoid opens the eyelids up giving you high beam. It takes about an extra 2 hours to do properly but they leave halogen for dead and I've never been flashed by oncoming traffic with mine. The perfect cut off stops the light hitting oncoming traffic but they still produce awesome light. Cheers Mick.

What did you do to your GU today?
I upgraded my headlights again. I had 2.5 inch projectors in it before but now I've just fitted a pair of 3 inch projectors, led parker rings, indicators and Osram bulbs. For that amount of effort to fit these it probably wasn't worth the afford only look nicer. Indicators Thats low beam but before they where adjusted. They where up in the air a fair bit. Highbeam Cheers Mick.

No power to driver side hi beam
I'd fix that properly if I where you. One of my mates did a dodgy repair job like that and it lasted a couple of months before it melted everything in the switch and had damaged a few other wires in the loom and lost his lights in the middle of no where. I kept telling him to fix it but he new better. lol It ended up costing him nearly $1000 to replace half the loom instead of $100 for a new combination switch. Don't cut corners with wiring especially something as important and lights. They will fail when you least want them too it's Murphies Law. Cheers Mick.

I've never been a fan of Tough dog shocks. I've used them and got rid of them after they started to leak though it was the 45mm adjustables that I had not the ones your referring too. They seem to have more failures then any other shock. Think of them as the Coppers of the shock world and you will know what I mean. The only shocks I will use these days are Bilsteins. Cheers Mick.

Another newbie
Yes the trade gets very boring and I don't think you could pay me enough to go back. I was a paint rep for a little while to and that was still to close to the trade. Cheers Mick.

Hi all my names Mick and I've got a GU series 1 with a few bits and pieces. I'm on a few 4wd forums and I've had Patrols since I got my licence. I'm a spray painter by trade but got sick of working on cars all day everyday. Now I build horse floats these days so the involves a bit of everything, fabrication, electrical, carpentry and painting so I don't get bored anymore. I've also just started up my own business doing HID projector conversion kits and installations as there doesn't seem to be many people doing it in Australia. Cheers Mick.
