  1. Are the printers identical and do they all share the same driver, name and output port? If not, pooling is not going to work or you will have problems. Are you using a cross-over cable or hub/switch to direct connect? Also, have you correctly set up the Host/Guest protocols? Cheers Ray
  2. Wind power generation is actually very cost ineffective and only survives because of subsidies. Hydro is one of the most cost effective and sustainable energy sources available and with Tasmania's vast supplies of water, it seems kind of stupid that they aren't providing more power to the mainland. But then again, stupid is spelt G_R_E_E_N_S. Cheers Ray
  3. http://greens.org.au/media/2008/08/29/2319 Solutions? How about hydro, coal etc? Cheers Ray
  4. This is becomng an absolute farce: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/rates-could-pay-for-struggling-artists/story-e6frf7kx-1226427550944 Cheers Ray
  5. I meant to say before the cape, there's not much in between, even Cooktown has warning signs on the beach. Cheers Ray
  6. The Lion's Den is a nice little spot and the pub has a great selection of local fauna on display. The campsite many years ago was excellent and shady. The creek at the back is the last place that you can safely swim in on the way to the Cape. Take care on the Cape Tribulation Rd, as there are sections that are 'interesting' and when you get to the Bloomfield, make sure you cross at low tide. Do you plan to go to Cooktown and then cut across to the Developmental Rd through Lakefield National Park, or take the Developmental Rd direct? Cheers Ray
  7. I've never experienced corrugations like on the Cape York Developmental Road; broke both rear body mount bolts off my MQ on that bastard of a road and had seven flat tyres in one day. I'd do Birdsville etc any day after experiencing the Cape. That said, I'd do the High Country any day over all the other options, but them I'm biased. Cheers Ray
  8. You should see some of the job applications my wife has completed. Some have key selection criteria that must be addressed and that can take up to six pages of type to complete. Any government/semi-government job application is insane. I considered applying for a project management job at a local TAFE, but when I started to read the selection criteria in detail, they were after anything but a project manager. Cheers Ray
  9. Less likely here: http://pjmedia.com/blog/tips-for-not-appearing-crazy-on-the-internet/?singlepage=true Cheers Ray
  10. I have to agree with that. My wife has been looking for work, just about anywhere in the region since we moved here, and with years of experience not even one interview. I haven't started looking yet, but I think the way things are at he moment, it'll be Buckley's and none. That's what pisses me off with these handouts and now the government has pledged an extra $1 billion for social workers when there are people who can't even get work. http://www.news.com....i-1226426336093 Cheers Ray

  12. How on earth can this sort of thing keep going on? http://www.news.com....i-1226426118851 This insanity just has to stop. Cheers Ray
  13. Yes, the Howard government left a $22 billion surplus and this: http://www.futurefund.gov.au/; but in a way you're correct, Howard should have realised that those who would come after him in the next election would be children that would piss the inheritance up against the wall. And they have done that in the most spectacular way. Cheers Ray
  14. Sorry, all ex-politicians get similar benefits, don't just cherry pick him out of the bunch. Cheers Ray
  15. How is it a tax? If the effective price of a product goes up, for whatever reason (especially an artificial increase), then so does the GST on that product. It's pretty simple really. Why are the Greens lobbying for this? What will it actually achieve? And on exactly what basis do the Greens suggest that the handling costs might be as low as 1c-3c? What Green on this planet has any business experience? Maybe people need to be reminded of this: http://catallaxyfile...king-for-you-i/ and this: http://catallaxyfile...ing-for-you-ii/ and this: Cheers Ray
  16. If you read the article, you won't get back 20c, but 10c or less. See, a brand new tax. Cheers Ray
  17. There are some differences with that example and the carbon tax. The fuel excise, for example, was lowered when GST came into place and was also no longer indexed for inflation, but many groups still don't quite state the truth, a bit like the Howard claim that there will never be a GST. These excises existed when we had all the pre-GST taxes in place anyway, but the GST reduced the complexity of taxation considerably, but the states failed to reduce many taxes as they were supposed to do when the GST was introduced. One major difference with the carbon tax is that it will now also hit food products that are currently exempt from GST, thus putting up the price of many fresh foods products, as if we need that. I might also point out that the Greens are up to their usual let's help make Australian's lives even worse with this proposal: http://www.news.com.au/business/worklife/proposed-recycling-levy-to-add-300-to-shopping-bills/story-e6frfm9r-1226425813918 More taxes. Cheers Ray
  18. But wait! http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/07/who-wants-a-quad-core-computer-for-130/ Cheers Ray
  19. I got something similar, it may have been from supercheap, maybe even ebay and cost about $5-10. It's a red rubber box with about 20 or so fittings of all types that suit a standard 1/4" or so hex head screwdriver attachment. These are fairly readily available just about anywhere. What I got was one of these: Cheers Ray
  20. Too much rain here to be cold. Cheers Ray
  21. I'm not sure, but I think 4 x AAAs might equate to a D cell, so it could be possible, would just have to search. Cheers Ray
  22. Funny you should mention this, as I was think about just this today. I'm waiting on a USB charger for my Nokia Bluetooth GPS which uses the 2mm charging pin and there's a USB cable available that has a 2mm pin designed to charge compatible Nokia devices. In Australia, that cable costs from $20-$80 (that's not a mistake) depending on who is selling it (not including postage). I ordered the same item from Hong Kong for $1.00 including postage. If the Australian sellers had been more reasonable about the price of this item, I may have bought it locally. I don't care what some say about overheads etc, some prices are a blatant rip off. And the thing is, some local retailers get the same products, from the same places, and just inflate the price because they can. The Cree torches I bought are a classic example, Jaycar was selling exactly the same ones for $30 each, when I could get half a dozen or more from China for the same price, including delivery. Cheers Ray
  23. Yes, they are a direct replacement and you need this battery: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250717601860&ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:AU:1123 And a charger like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330539670995 You can't charge these batteries on a normal charger. Cheers Ray
  24. Ours is the zoomable type and we mostly use it at wide beam where it really shines (pun intended), but it also work well as a tight beam for about 50m. I can't find the same type on eBay now, as it looks like the design has changed. I also bought a couple of those 3.7V single batteries and charger as well, which saves having to buy AAAs. Cheers Ray
  25. This just reminded me of one other aspect, as I pointed out in my quotes earlier, the cost: Free: - OS Not Free: - PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse etc - Power to run PC etc - Internet connection - Desk, chair etc - Cost to run room, house etc - and so on Freedom!!!! Cheers Ray
