Whats with the heavy handed I'm king and your my lowly minions attitude?!!?

I started to visit this site when things went bad at Patrol4x4 and you had less than 30 members and you said all you wanted to do was create an alternative to Patrol4x4 if things went bad. You claimed it cost you SFA and you wanted to set it up just like Patrol4x4 and give the mods from there the same priviledges.

A couple of months and 200 odd extra members later and you start to show your real intentions, laying down the law and asking for money. Maybe you should delete your old posts so you don't look so much like a tool.

I don't come to a forum to talk about Patrols and Patrols only, if thats the case I'd only come online a few times a year when I need to find something and therefore I'm not available to answer questions. Thats what a general section is for, to keep members coming back regularly.

I liked Patrol4x4 and only came here because things went pear shaped overthere. If you didn't try and change the world I might've stayed, but I think going forward you're going to be a little too precious to live with.

It's also interesting that you comment about other topics; the only thing that's been removed/restricted are the political discussions. For one who raised a fair share of those on the other forum and was regularly abused by many, as if it was the only thing I posted, I don't miss them at all really. Other than that, there's not really much restricted here, other than what you might imagine.

IMHO also I might add that it is pretty poor form to alter a comment made by a member, even if it is as innocent as simpy correcting misinformation.

It is much better and less rude all round to simply add a reply.

not allowing "mud fights", every forum needs those, and they can be fun. two people trying to put their point across over and over again, is good reading. and at the end of the day, they are not 'fighting' they are just trying to out post each other with who is right and wrong, im sure there is no hard feelings between them. far out, i went toe to toe with BBM about the quantas debarcal last year, his views where correct, and i beleive mine where two, but we was on different sides. i have no hard feelings about that, or with him.. hell, id buy him a beer.

same goes with the politcal banter, thats what we thrive on. it happens every day, why cant it be discussed?

having this place as a stand alone, patrol talk only, this place will become very very boring.

im totally against the non advertsing rule.

ive come to the realisation, alot more can be done over at patrol4x4, and its more orientated around my posting. unfortunatly, this place isnt for me.

1. I havnt asked anyone for money - I dont know where you get that from. I stated my intentions direct and upfront - by posting stickys in the Forum News section. Infact, most people have congratulated me on being so honest and most importantly - upfront. Many people from patrol4x4 have come here, read the rules and my intentions and joined, donated and essentially been as happy as pigs in shit. Good on em.

My costs have increased since we had 30 members. I got requests from mebers for other features - I have added classifieds, Live Chat and have been working behind the scenes on a garage system. All at my own expense.

2. Some discussions got out of hand here in the political category and I made the decision to stop it before it became to disruptive and destructive. The fact is that people come here to discuss their patrols first and foremost - if they find constant pointless bickering about things that are off topic they wont come back. I need to cater for the majority of Patrol lovers - not a few people hell bent on bickering about political issues. There are forums for that out there I would say. Members are free to have non political non religious discussion in the general area.

Hopefully the majority will agree.. if not, this will be a very quiet forum :-)

Ive not edited the content of a members post. I have readjusted the layout of one or two posts that were copied and pasted and hence had layout issues, but never the conent. When I edit a post it also leaves behind the 'Edited by: Admin' with a reason.. and that reason would be to tidy the layout etc.

I think you will find the exact same non advertising rule at patrol4x4 thou - They have a vendors section and you wont be able to advertise competition.

I dont mind mud fights (heck Glort seems to write novels in his) - but there is simply no point arguing about politics - No one will change there mind.

I requested the deletion of my post in the political section, as I saw what a mistake it was (and didn't it attract the flies). I did agree that the political section was pretty much a waste of time and don't miss it at all; there's another place where I'm sure it'll continue hammer and tong for a long time yet, but with one less conservative arsehole around, the socialist agenda can get into full swing.

I disagree. I think it is highly refreshing to be told up front what the go is rather than to be told one thing when clearly the attitude is something the complete opposite. I read that rule yesterday when I saw the post about the forum rules and thought no more than " Fair enough".

For the life of me I can't see how anyone would take issue with it.

If I owned a forum, I'd say EXACTLY the same thing! Do you really think anyone is going to have someone else tell them what they can do and how things will be in their own house? Of course the good thing here is the admin actualy owns and runs HIS house and has full control of it.

I made a resoloution to avoid the chitfights when I came here of my own volition rather than it being any rule. Call it trying to learn from mymistakes if you will.

Personaly can't see the problem. I think it may elevate the level of discussion.

If you want the chitfights, I see you have already gone running back to a place you can do that so you're happy, I'm happy.

I certainly didn't pay it much attention let alone thrive on it. I certainly won't miss it and it seems like others whom have been interested in it are not any longer so I don't think anyone else is complaining about its removal.

I would suggest the great majority of people have realised that for a considerably long time. . I'd say the issue is more like there being so much that needs to be done, working out where to start will be a challenge in itself. I fully expect many of the features and facilities already here to soon pop up there.

As for this place not being for you, fair enough. It's obvius other forums cater more to the things you want to see.

Things like admins with hidden agenda's, chitfight arguments over politics and ads everywhere.... although I think you may be dissapointed on that last one elsewhere as well. Each to their own I suppose.

Well I know Ray is missed, jacket as far as I was aware is still over there as I thought Mike was.

When I opened this place someone (cannot remember who) asked me who the forum was owned by. At the time I answered that it was owned by myself - personally.

As of July 2012, the ownership of this forum trades under ABN: 79172986749. I have updated the forum rules section (which is the first post of this topic). Im posting here for transparency.

That's a relief. Whenever I see mention of forum rules by the admin I wonder what the hell I have done wrong now!

I just noticed the bit about the post count not going up on certain sections. I thought I had made posts and not seen the thing go up.

Personally I'm happy to have post counts turned off altogether.

Serves no purpose i can see than to remind me i spend too much time on these forums and tells everyone else the same thing.
