Back in June I have managed to cross Simpson desert, West to East via French line. Awesome adventure. Drove all the way to Alice Springs to spectate at Finke Desert Race 2013. Camped alongside the track for three days than headed through Finke to Mt Dare than across. Everything went smoothly but the track was heavily corrugated and badly dug out. (I guess all those people with camper trailers) Anyway here are some pics.... Patrol at Big Red Patrol at French line Patrol at Breakaways, Coober Pedy Birdsville pub Poeppels corner Simpson desert national park entrance in Queensland Somewhere in the…

Back at the end of August 2012 I did a trip to Eastern corner of the Flinders Ranges for what was invitation only trip for people from 4x4 Earth and P4x4 forums thanks to Patrol guru Chaz (15 cars only, first come first served actually) Its Bunkers Conservation Reserve dedicated to Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby preservation. What a place. Bonus of the trip was climb to Mt. Caernarvon (a part of old Skytrek route) which is now off the limits to visitors to Willow Spring station thanks to owners of said establishment unwillingness to cooperate with YFRWPA (Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby Preservation Association Inc) So much for "New Skytrek" Weather was fantastic but cloudy on…

Anyone going? Myself and a couple of mates are heading of tomorrow arv or saturday morning for two nights. I havent been to a four wheel drive comp for bloody years, i thought its time to get off my arse and get more motivated. Leaving the quad behind (and the missus) this weekend, strictly a drinking, warm fire, spectating piss up! (and maybe a bush bash!) Hopefully we might catch up with some of you out there. Cheers Wayne

Last weekend I managed to get away for an awesome trip to Merna Mora station. Weather was magic if not a bit too warm at the times but still nice and warm at night. Thoroughly recommend to anyone. Tracks are not free but well worth the money, one can spend all day there on just one track twisting ascending and descending with absolutely amazing views. There are four tracks to choose from including an epic 100 km one to shores of Lake Torrens which I didn't do due to not having enough time, oh well an excuse to return. Not to mention the rest of the Flinders is only a short distance away. Cheers

Well I hope this is the right section... I wanted to share my recent trip and a little report I suppose I started off going down Maroondah Hwy all the way past the main town of Buxton and then cut through via Glendale Ln and onto Friday creek rd. Then I circled all around Old Sec Rd and some others roads, not following my map for a while until I got to the plantation (and a little lost lol) and got back down to the loop - which is where all the over head lines are in the pics below. I also went through Jacksons Bk, Mohican Bk and a bit of other stuff off Black Range Rd. It was a fun day so hope you like the pics even though I didn't really take many as I was by myself…

Brindabella Breakdown - A series of fortunate events. Sorry about the length ... but there is a bit to tell. And I left bits out. A recent (January 2012) two night camping trip to the McIntyres Hut area delivered a learning opportunity for this new family of 4wd travellers. I write this to thank and acknowledge all those who willingly involved themselves in our recent ... uummm ... close call. Shreqs’ new mum, my Lady Fiona, was keen on “camping” but I had resisted. In short, I relented. But how do I go about this? So, a new members of the Southern Tablelands 4WD Club (ST4WDC) was conceived. A roof top tent and annex, awning and fly screen are purchased, fitted a…
