Fixing Intercooler Cracks
Depending on the type of Sikaflex, it could work quite well. It just needs to be a material that is able to stand the pressure. I guess it's a balancing act between rigidity and flexibility. The Loctite is very rigid, so won't expand and contract with the alloy (I think), but holds on like the proverbial. Sikaflex will expand and contract, but can it stand up to the pressure that's exerted? I'm sure that there would be a product available that would do both and be within the requirements for this sort of job, it's just a matter of finding it.. Cheers Ray

Battery Care
In case you haven't heard of Battery University, it's an excellent resource for understanding how batteries work and how to get the most out of your batteries: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/. Cheers Ray

Howto kick start this forum?
Why would anyone give themselves a forum moniker like not_yom? Does this mean they had a love/hate relationship with someone who is_yom? Could this be a riddle? What if we reversed the moniker. We'd have moy_ton. Could that be really moy-lots? Could it just be moy? Could it really be moise? Cheers Ray

The CRD already has a water sensor in the filter, that's why there's the electrical connection under the filter. Cheers Ray

Jacket has bought another one.
The last time I saw the price for the e-locker and ARB, they were pretty much on par, when you added the compressor price to the ARB (that's the baby compressor), plus the fitting of the air lines etc. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Cheers Ray

Try the e-locker, at least then you'll know how well, or not, it works. Afterall, you're only going to sell the Patrol anyway, so it'll provide a good test bed for future. Cheers Ray

An insult to timber
I would rather try and make something out of that wood than burn it; however, my woodworking skills are about as good as my music skills. Cheers Ray

An insult to timber
Here's a few more, less timber used, but still just as stupid: I guess taste doesn't matter when sustainability is at stake. Cheers Ray

An insult to timber
I think it's an insult to destroy what appears to be some very nice timber just to make an iPod docking station, or one for any music payer, phone etc. Why not just use a boulder? Cheers Ray

The Automatic Transmission Thread
Good article. I had a look at my cooler and it's completely different to that in your photo. It's at least three times taller and around the same width. Nissan must have done a lot of changes when they designed the CRD, as so many things are different. Cheers Ray

Below Zero
I plan on getting about he smallest necessary, but since we have a lot of gum available, I'm just going to get a conventional heater. And once our back veranda is fully enclosed, I have two chimineas that can heat that area, which will send heat into the house, so we should be reasonably well covered. It turned out to be a beaut day today, clear skies and probably around 20C, but that'll only last until the afternoon and then it'll get cold again. Cheers Ray

We have abundent free wood in our area, so a wood fired heater is the go, just have to figure out what's a good brand without going overboard. Cheers Ray

What's the most interesting thing you've ever made?
I'd love to do that, but convincing the other half that it's a good idea would be very difficult, until I sort out quite a few other things. Cheers Ray

Below Zero
That's what it was this morning and still only 2 deg at the moment. I need to get a wood fired heater ASAP, so that I can keep a fire going all day and night. Still can't figure out why the previous owner installed a gas fired heater. Bloody 45kg bootles empty quicker than a keg at 21st. Cheers Ray

I think this entire issue of forum envy has gone on way too long. It's just as bad at Patrol4x4. No need to maintain a Hatfields and McCoys fued. Cheers Ray

What's the most interesting thing you've ever made?
That's the thing that captivates me about Steampunk is that there are so many functional aspects to it, but it has a style that really won't age. It's not for everyone's tastes, but few can deny that it is interesting and intriguing at the same time. To be quite honest, moving from a Victorian style house, I could easily live in a Steampunk flavoured one, compared to some of today's modern, lifeless and sterile houses. Cheers Ray
