Really? Heron think people are looking for clarity, answers and comfort from this guy? Cheers Ray
  2. I have power available in the rear panels, but now that the table is solidly mounted, I can't be bothered to drag wires through. I just hang an LED light on the door. Cheers Ray
  3. I bought something similar to do the same, but after finding out that there's not on single power wire in the rear door, I couldn't be fagged pulling one through the rubber harness cover. Cheers Ray
  4. So many people seem to believe that all of this shit is somehow sustainable and great for the environment and people generally. The biggest thing that I hate is when I'm watching Grand Designs (a program that I like) and they have some hair shirt couple claiming to be building their dream 'sustainable home'. If everyone built their homes based on some of these sustainable ideas, there'd be no forests, grasslands, or anything else sustainable left in the world, nor room to build them either. Nah, I was posting this stuff in the general section over there as well. I like to think of these posts as mental stimulation, to maintain a healthy mind by providing variety rather than stagnating. Cheers Ray

No this was a Flash update for x64, directly from the Adobe website. If it's a trojan, then it's coming from Adobe. Also, Adobe has been really slack in supporting x64 bit systems. Cheers Ray
  6. Excellent! I'd love to be able to make an equivalent that shows where the electricty comes from. Cheers Ray
  7. I'm all for conservation etc, but some of the things that our eco-worriers (not warriors) do, beggars belief. Example One: Cute, but once the cardboard absorbs moisture etc and no longer looks pretty, what happens? The whole lot, battery, clock mechanism etc are binned. Recycled, biodegradable?. Example Two: So to recycle a cardboard lid, one also puts to use a pile of new materials (and what Greenie is going to give up their hair shirt). Why not just pull a piece of string from Point A to Point B on a wall or such and be really eco-friendly (I actually did that so my wife could hang her stuff in the bathroom). Example Three: So it only uses fewer trees and keeps people informed? http://inhabitat.com/ It used to be sex, drugs and rock and roll, what happened? Cheers Ray

I charge my campervan batteries ( 2 x 120A) about every 2-3 months with a Projecta 25A charger, but with colder weather coming on, I may have to keep a closer eye on the batteries. Cheers Ray

It looks like facebook has hit a pothole: http://www.news.com.au/business/facebook-shares-extend-slide-drop-up-to-9pc-after-open/story-e6frfm1i-1226363999970 Also: http://www.technologyreview.com/web/40437/?p1=A3 Cheers Ray
  10. I put my first GU on eBay and some knob offered me around $10,000 - $15,000 less than the asking price (I can't remember which) and to whom I politely replied with no thanks. I then started to receive a tirade of abusive email from him about the price and anything else he could think of, so eventually I notified eBay about him and that stopped the rants. I sold the Patrol for the asking price a week later. I have no idea why this guy got so obsessed with the Patrol and my asking price, which was quite reasonable, as I sold it to the first person who came to have a look and test drive. I guess it takes all kinds. Cheers Ray
  11. And some will be parted: http://smh.drive.com...0523-1z3u0.html Why would you even bother? Cheers Ray
  12. It's not over yet, your choices just got harder: http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/22/via-technologies-outs-49-apc-android-barebones/. Cheers Ray
  13. If there's one company that I detest more than any other, by a long shot, it's Google. There has never been such an intrusive/invasive organisation in existence - ever. An example is what happened just now when I updated Flash (a crap program if ever there was one) and in the process Google Toolbar was installed without an option to not install. In fact it installed before Flash did. So once the install was finished, I immediately uninstalled the Toolbar, but to uninstall you have to go to the Google site and answer a series of questions, to which I simply answered 'fuck off' and only after submitting the response, did the unistall complete. I'm not sure what the legalities are regarding these unsolicited installs, but the ethics is severely lacking. That's one reason I will not have a Google account, as once you do, it's worse than Facebook with the information it collects and stores. At least with Facebook, you are more or less in control of what information you input. Rant over! Cheers Ray
  14. So they still make those in metal class. I had to make one of those when I did a similar course and that's over 30 years ago. The other thing we had to make was a screwdriver. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Cheers Ray
  15. Short drives will usually kill the fuel economy on diesels, as well as cause other issues, and addons like roof racks don't help. I average around 12.5/100km with my auto, but can get lower if I drive it easy. I always try to do a reasonable distance whenever I go out, so that everything fully warms up. Cheers Ray
  16. Cool! I really hated it when you couldn't say even the most innocuous/common word without it being turned into xxxx. Swearing for lack of ability to put two words together in a debate should be sneared at, but rough vernacular is our heritage. Cheers Ray
  17. Oh, you're after info on historical engines. I can say with authority that you can remove the sump, in situ, on another ancient engine, the SD33, so the same could be for that old timer. Cheers Ray
  18. Erm! What engine? Cheers Ray
  19. Every other forum I've been on will not allow the use of the most basic words used in general conversation in Australia. Here I can say cock (as in rooster), Dick (as in a truncation of Richard) , prick (as in thorn in finger), arse (no need to elaborate) etc and it is simply liberating! It's just bloody cool to be able to write without the PC Computer Police editing common words available in every dictionary. So what makes this forum software so different to all the others? Cheers Ray
  20. I don't use gmail, so I have no idea how it works, but many do, so thought I'd post this up as a notice of shit that may happen. Cheers Ray
  21. I was referring to the OP and simply pointing out that he is duplicating, in part, what already exists within the system (the water sensor). In reference to your questions, the important issue with additional fuel filters (water sensing or not) is whether you are introducing additional work for the fuel pump in moving fuel through the system. If not appropriately designed and engineered, you could cause more problems than you think you are fixing. I don't want to be a wet blanket here, but on reading the Terrain Tamer web site, little bells started to ring in my head (which isn't all that uncommon, but moreso since I haven't had a red wine for two weeks) and got louder: A 4 micron filter will stop 30 micron lumps. That's what it's designed to do - to filter. That's what the factory filter is designed to do. Exactly what are these system components? Oh, a diesel compatible fuel hose. I smell reptile oil. Cheers Ray
  22. Years back we came down the Silver City Highway (biggest pot holes I've ever seen on any road) towards Broken Hill and it was starting to get late, and we began to get a tad worried. We thought that we'd be able to maintain a fair clip, but were lucky to do about 60kmh because of the state of the road. There would have been one dead roo on either side of the road about every 10m in the last 50km stretch to Broken Hill and we didn't want to add to the count. We were so relieved when we got to Broken Hill before the sun started to set. We vowed never to do that stretch of road again. Don't know if it's any better now (about 30 years later). Cheers Ray
  23. An interesting article for those of you who are gmail users: http://www.technologyreview.com/blog/mimssbits/27863/?p1=blogs. Cheers Ray
  24. The fun police are right into the alcohol attack today: http://www.news.com.au/national/support-for-ban-on-booze-ads/story-e6frfkvr-1226362906214 We need a revolution to get rid of all these do gooders who seem to think they know better than everyone else as to how we should live our lives. Cheers Ray
  25. http://www.news.com.au/national/tiny-town-of-marree-traded-for-71000sq-km-of-land-at-lake-eyre-in-native-title-deal/story-e6frfkvr-1226362881076 I'm glad I saw the desert etc in the 80s; didn't have to pay anything and was able to see and stay at places that are pretty much out of bound nowadays. I wonder what this will do to Lake Eyre and surrounds in the long term? Cheers Ray
