  1. when i had my commodore i spent hours on the phone with Qld transport department talking about bonnet scoops and filters exceding the bonnet ect Anyways to cut a long story short finally one of the head honshos told me i can have a filter out of the bonnet as long as there is no moving parts that can crush fingers ect and no sharp edges and height requirments where measured based on the princaple of if the cop stood infront of the left fender infront of the car (can not remember the distance away) you had to be able to see his feet while in the seated postion behind the wheel. My filter was 8" high and 14" round, got pulled every time i drove it one cop gave me a ticket that i scrunched up and threw back at him told him all this above and said ill see you in court and never went to court he threw out the ticket and left me alone after that. My secret tho was i had height adjustable seats, the lip around the filter top had small chrome condu crap around it and when i cut my bonnet i placed a full rolled brace around the hole.
  2. Nah just bottom mate, need to extended bumpstops on front by 80mm so i think the 80series style will work just fine so ill change to them and then use the fronts in my rear. The ides for how i made it was just to pull the coil back against the seat to stop it wanting to spin while flexed so it lines up with the upper coil seat.
  3. Top view front on view
  4. there nothing flash mate just a piece of 6mm thick plate that a folded one end over to pull the coil against the seat to stop it floating around seems to be working in the shed have to wait till road test and see if they hold up ill put a picture up tomorrow.
  5. Yeah all in now just need to fab one more coil retainer for the front and should be ready for testing when the new 100amp Alt is on
  6. Just a delivery driver (courier) atm lol Should of stayed in school wanted to be a Mechanical Engineer but iv dabeled a bit in a few fields, Truck Diesel mechanic/fitter, motor mechaic, boilermaker, Automotoive spray painting, Im good at everything but an expert at nothing lol
  7. Chucked this in on Sunday too
  8. here is a quick picture of wheel travel with the 5 link
  9. Well its been awhile, my rig been sitting with a dead alt and a flat tyre so i started ripping the alt out replaced the coil, points, give it an extended rotor button and new cap. Also decided to flush the old coolent out and give the power steering a service and new oil, while i am waiting for the new alt i decided to put it in the shed and started ripping the radius arms out to fit a wizard 5link into the front. Got started on this today at 1pm and geez not overly impressed with the setup so far, the drop boxes for the lower arm needed some major grinding to get it to sit right and to get the cross member bolt holes to line up then the bracket on the chassis for the upper arm is all wrong it should have been made so the chassis mount for the upper arm was higher and more forward then the lower and it flex's really bad off the chassis so im going to have to add a few extra bolts and later on ill make a new bracket for the uppers to relocate them properly. So basically 6 hours later i had one side mounted up now tomorrow i just need to go get some new bolts and get stuck into the drivers side and it will be all bolted up and finished by wednesday arvo ready and waiting for my alt to arrive so i can go give it a test. this picture shows where i need to add bolts now to stop it flexing and where i want to move that mount later in the year.
  10. Lets see washed it and give it a quick rub over with 1800 wet and dry to remove over spray and road grime, then polished it, gave the tray a touch up with some fresh paint, adjusted my steering to center and cleaned the inside out (lots of beer bottle on the passenger floor from last camping trip)
  11. If it has proper rails that slide back and forth and is bolted to the original holes in the floor it can be mod plated and deemed roadworthy so insurance shouldnt have an issue covering it
  12. Mitch i want your light bar please lol Built my bump stop extensions today, well really just fabbed up a extension off the diff for the bump stop out of some 4mm plate some 30mm OD pipe and some 2mm plate
  13. Anything can be done if you have a little time and some basic tools to do the job.
  14. Cheers mate, Keep an eye out over the next few months its only going to get alot more work done to it
  15. that looks good mick, some good progress happening there bump stops look good too you dont think that theupper one will split the lower on after awhile?
  16. alot of bolt in stuff is easy providing you can show nice strong clean welds good high tensile bolts ect and looks the part no dodgy looking, suspension brakes and steering mods are the hardest to mod plaate as thats 100percent safety right there.
  17. just need a mod plate for the bolt on A frame other then that yep
  18. Nah just want crazy flex in a everyday full body car.
  19. Built my swivel bush for my A frame rear end.
  20. Ok guys got a much better flex shot and my new swivel bush setup is complete and in use.
  21. Its been 2 weeks in the making and iv finally got it all together and now just need to raise my shock mounts on the rear to accomadate the new rancho's i got.
  22. When i went to get the windscreen replaced in my old wagon Windscreens Obrian told me that the oem rubber was cheaper and better then the factory nissan one and lasts alot longer before weather damage makes the corners peel apart ect as for the windscreen no idea they should all be about the same i would imagine, probley go to the wreckers and pick up a good second handie for half the price of a new one and buy the new rubber, windscreen from MQ-GQ fit each other.
  23. Lucky Ray! I guess thats what happens when someone offers a solid argument to certain things lol Keep it up Ray not many genuine people like you left that are willing to argue facts over the world famous he said she said rubbish alot of people base there facts on.
