SammiGQ got a reaction from Rumcajs in Black Range Forest Trip 20-05-12Well I hope this is the right section... I wanted to share my recent trip and a little report I suppose
I started off going down Maroondah Hwy all the way past the main town of Buxton and then cut through via Glendale Ln and onto Friday creek rd. Then I circled all around Old Sec Rd and some others roads, not following my map for a while until I got to the plantation (and a little lost lol) and got back down to the loop - which is where all the over head lines are in the pics below.
I also went through Jacksons Bk, Mohican Bk and a bit of other stuff off Black Range Rd.
It was a fun day so hope you like the pics even though I didn't really take many as I was by myself.
Some nice views:
Ready to head down...
I've been trying to find a good spot to max out my flex and I did it by accident here lol yay not bad for a 3 inch front flex

SammiGQ reacted to Glort in Trouble with Patrol 4x4.comPerhaps you guys have been banned too!
If you can confirm that is the case, you will be stoked to know you can claim your membership to the coverted and growing Bad Boys Club.
If it's just yet another technical hitch, sorry, we are an exclusive, snobby lot of rejects and outcasts and only accept qualified Villans.
You'll just have to wait till their tech problems are fixed. You could get yourself kicked by making a post that this is a great site and people should join up here and then you could claim your BBC membership.
But hurry, places are filling up fast and only limited seats are still available!
Meanwhile, being a regular member here is growing in it's benifits day by day and the site offers features others don't!
* You can log on and make posts from your PC OR Phone.
* It's gauranteed Virus free.
* You can email the site owner and get a timely response
* It's based on a forum software from this decade
* It has graphics and looks fresh and modern
And of course, we have the BBC!
All the advantages and benifits of a real forum and none of the drawbacks.

SammiGQ reacted to geeyoutoo in Song Title GameI love the Song Title Game on Patrol 4x4, so I thought I would start a version here. The idea is you have a song title, a dash - then the singer or band, a word is taken from the original title and used in the next song, does not need to be the same singer or band, it just rolls on from the word lifted from the previous title. I don't have a problem with covers as long as they are legitimate.
The more words you borrow from the previous title the more of a legend you are and if you can keep a key word going your an even bigger legend It is handy if you can underline the key word(s)
So to start it off:

SammiGQ reacted to Ray! in Winch ProtectorI always like to keep things looking a bit subtle where posible, so after getting my much maligned Aldi winch, I wanted to do something a bit different with the installation. Specifically, I didn't want it to stand out, so this is what I ended up doing.
The winch install is standard, but unlike many who modify the number plate mount so that it sits higher than the winch opening, I modified the number plate mount so that it covers the winch entirely:
I simply removed the part that usually holds the number plate, part of the angle, and install two hinges on to the number plate and what was left of the existing bracket:
The snatch strap is what holds the number plate down when not in use and is easy to undo when needed.
The additional benefits of this modification are that the number plate no longer bends up when crossing rivers and it also keeps the fairlead, cable etc very clean, even when going through bog holes.
Cheers

Cheers!

SammiGQ reacted to GQ Beast in Renewing Radius Arm BushesHi, Well seeing ive just done mine and it all went well id'e post up how i did it.
Firstly i parked on a reasonably level driveway,Chocked rear wheels and in gear with handbrake on.
I got under and set up jack stands roughly to the height it was sitting at, One under the diff housing, between radius arm and swivel housing, ( Oh one side at a time)
Then another stand under the chassis behind where back off radius arm meets chassis.
Jacked the whole front up, took off wheel and placed stands and lowered onto them.
Next i undone the rear nut of the radius arm where it meets the chassis. removed the rear mushroom bush.
Then with rattle gun loosened the bolts holding radius arm to diff. ( these are Tight,Had to grind one off)
Next you have to remove Tie Rod joint on the side your working on and swing out of the way.
Punch out bolts with brass punch while supporting radius arm, slide out towards the front of the car.
Pressed out old bushes and replaced with new rubber ones.
To install , put new mushroom bush on the back off arm and slide in, put rear mushroom bush on, washer and tighten, you have to tighten the rear nut to squash the new bushes so the front bushes line up, Put new bolts and nuts through front bushes ( $30 set from nissan ) had to jack up a little to line them up,
Done them up (not tight) Put wheel back on removed stands and jumped up and down on the front end.
Undone all the nuts enough to put locktite on thread and torqued them all up with car sitting on wheels (important) if you torque them up while jacked up you will tear the bushes when the cars sitting where it should. This apply's to any suspension bush!!!
Hope this helps, found it an easy job.
