Now that patrol4x4 is infected again maybe things will start to happen over here?

I'm not familiar with forum software but I don't think "it was infected again". The infection was still there because the fundamental underlying issue is still present: the forum software which is vulnerable and hasn't been updated. If the owners wanted to have it fixed it would've happened 3 weeks ago.

Firstly by shutting it down, scrubbing the databases clean and migrating the whole lot on to something better and more secure.

Something is fishy with that site ownership and the members are not being told the full story.

Yeah, it was very strange that the forum code was not updated. Well I hope they all end up here :-)

They're increasingly getting desperate as it appears that the owner is not cooperating (possibly because the costs are now balooning) so the mods are doing their best manually cleaning the code as fast as they can and going nowhere with it. It does look hopeless and more and more people are getting infected. Scammers/Spammer must love the site now. Those forum members who complain are being shouted down: "to go elsewhere if they don't like it". Not very nice attitude. I don't know what is involved with migrating a databases of that magnitude but surely it doesn't take a rocket science to redirect the site to a new upgraded version on temporary basis (perhaps here) and than migrate the databases over as well.

Yeah, we seem to atract the scammers as well, already. I had a look for the members signing up and geez there are weird logins.

It's really a laughing joke to me...they won't clean it out fast enough before it gets re infected again....

I don't think there needs to be heaps of people on this forum...Cause if you got antivirus running on ya computer you could go over to patrol.com and get the information and come back here and share it..

Iv'e only been reading the email alerts from there, not goin on just incase! and yeh the mods are gettin abit rude to some asking the question , whats going on, Id'e be asking alot more and for an address iff i was a paid life member or vendor, The life member thing is /was quite new!!! Hmmmmmmm.

It's the members that have the knowledge that put it on the sie in the first place.

If people come here then the info others learned from there can be passed on here.

I have been asked a couple of times about doing a thread n using veg oils.

I think I'll post up there that if there is interest I'll do one..... Here given that I have my doubts about the future of the other forum.

Hopefully that might drive a few new members this way. I can't really thing of anything else I know inside out enough to hold myself out as any kind of auhourity on that might interest people.

Just tried to log on to Patrol 4x4 and got the message server too busy, I joined here just in case but I gotta admit I love the original forum and have some good friends I have come to know through it.

I know people say if certain parties come across they will bring that knowledge with them, that is true but often it is the historical data that is the problem, ie my EGT survey which has been going for years has a lot of data from many members, I could cut and paste it into a doc but damn I don't feel like doing that and then sorting the crap out of it. There are many threads with great history that would be lost in the event of a collapse, sad.

There are many caring mods on there, it's a pity someone right at the top appears to have lost interest.

Remember (I think it was mid 2010) there was a server problem and info for a couple of months was lost, I think I lost around 80 posts from memory.

I'm not having any other issues since loading up with malwarebytes/Superantispyware and Spybot Search and Destoy to back up my AV.

I joined due to the current server issues. I like this one it is more aesthetically pleasing lol. Has lots of potential.

Will take time depends on weather the old one gets fixed or not, if it doesnt I think you would find everyone would come over but how long that takes who knows?

One thing that I would like to see is a for sale section similar to outerlimits

Well I've signed up here just in case there are any other flying badgers who have a patrol. If p4x4 goes down, I hope this site keeps a similar good technical base, the nisspat.com.au site is far too happy clappy for my liking

Agreed been a member of patrol4x4 since 2004 and nothing not even the gq maroon colour changed once. Getting a bit boring, shame u can't cut all the info we put on there into this site, as far as I'm concerned this site is much nicer to use

Yeah sure there is an info base there and all that but if anyone has a question is there no one with the answer amoung the current membership?

Seems to me everything needed to pick up where the old one left off is right here.

Like I said over there, who cares about a URL, it's the people that make a site.

If it carries on, great, if not too bad.

I really wonder if the effort some like Old mav and jet and maybe others are going to is really worth it when it would just seem a hell of a lot easier to carry on here without all the obstacles and difficulties of the old site.

I reckon things will get real interesting Come August when the domain expires. I reckon there will be a scrapping match to get it even though I doubt it has much more than sentimental value.

It might be able to generate a few buchs with ad lacements but I reckon that would put a lot of users off and if it went to a pay membership site, well then it could kiss it's arse goodbye for sure.

Forums that go from free to paid memberships rarely if ever survive let alone work.
