GQ Extra cab

To start it off its was an 1989 wagon now living life as a dual cab, TB42 carby (how much i hate the carb lol) 5 speed manual.
I bought the rig as a dual cab and since then its taking on alot of time and money as it was a BIG UGLY PIECE OF SH|T that i payed way to much for (well thats what i get for buying sight unseen) moving along as how everything was stuffed i spent 6 weeks in the shed doing rust repairs, rebuilding diffs, swapping interior and fixing many oil leaks.
So by the time it was ready for a roady it was freshly painted White just about everything was rebuilt and new suspension and rubbers under it, it went in for a roady riding on 4" lifted springs and 2" body lift with 33" tires and once i got it rego'd iv not looked back and it just keeps getting bigger and better.

Now it sits with 8" of lift on 35" tires mounted to fat 15x10 neg 44 offset rims iv raised shock mounts front and rear changed all the steering to newer GQ style adjustable stuff setup my own steering dampner to get it up high and out of harms way added a superior coil brace with drop out cones and retainers, 3rds rear lower +1" arms, braced the front diff, all the interior is now ST velour, custome 2.5" exhaust with extractors, tube tray, half tube front bar, built in sliders, 8" longer braided brake lines and same as rear line on front, thermos to keep it cool, custome 3" snorkle with modded air box.

There is plenty more just dont feel lik typing any more as i should be in bed lol
Over the next few days ill upload some pictures and try find an old one or two and during ect ect

Cheers Sid.

Got some rancho rs9000 adjustable shocks showing up maybe this weekend, they measure 930mm open and 545mm closed that hell beats my tuff dogs at 500mm closed and 760mm open.

When i weld in my new drop out cones im going to incorperate a bump stop in the bottom of the cone which should work out perfect for the new shock lenght at full closed and im going to use standard GQ fronts in the rear, should come out a dirty treat when finished :)

that's heaps better travel in the shock that its to the pro-comps and adjustable to good shit.

i owed ranchos before and found they to be extremely good highly rated shock

how s the boss coming along?

Yeah i built a small version for on the shelf testing for geomitry checking and i think its going to work well so iv tossed that into the bin and now about ready to start building the big one im going to use.

Cheers fellas :)

Got some more done today made the new plate that will bolt between the factory upper trailing arms on the diff for my new setup but i f'd the measurements for the bolt holes and now they are about 1/4 of a hole out ( didnt accomadte for the bend in the metal >__< ) anyways no major harm i will slot the holes on sunday and it will still pull up tight because of my other 2 that go in from behind to pull it up snug against the backside of the factory mounts, So hopeing to have all that bolted up tight come mid next week and then my new drop out cones will have arrived so ill have to mod them to hold my bump stops im adding front patrol bump stops to the rear via the drop out cones.

Then i can get back into the trailing arms and A-Frame and hope to have all that done by next weekend and ready for testing :D

Im sticking with a factory bush just for now for testing purposes once the rear end is finished off, Then once im happy with how everything is that iv done ill build eather the rotating 360 degree bush assembely or ill go to a Heim joint, just need to see how much flex im getting and if the roatating bush is really a neccesity over a Heim.
