I’ve not been involved with running an online forum for some years - Way back in the days of early phpBB v2. A lot has changed - This forum runs the latest version of Invision Board and seems to have a lot of new features and a heck of a lot of polish.

If there are features you guys know about that are not currently enabled - Let me know and I will do my best to accommodate.

Perhaps an "introductions" area where new members can "introduce" themselves. Seems popular elsewhere.

What does the tick mean on peoples posts?

Would be cool if it was a way to agree with someones post, would help to keep threads less conjested, and show a reader how many people think the post is a good reply rather than wading through 20 pages of replies saying "dello400" etc..

Yes, the tick (like this) button is a way to 'thank' or 'like' a post rather than saying it.. So please people, use this rather than writing 'nice car' or 'nice post' etc - Lets keep this place as clean and to the point as possible.

Im going to compile a post about the monitization of this place - Which will need to happen - So far im out of pocket quite a bit. Vendors sections is one idea, another idea i have is donations and another is charging small amounts for 'Premium Accounts' of some sort (like say 5 bucks a year to become a premium member which gives you x,y,z benifits) - But these are all just ideas and while this place is so small it really doesnt matter.

Just like on patrol4x4 we have the crd club, 4.2club etc. I was going to start the thread in the gu section but I don't want you to think I'm just spamming

I reckon just start a thread. The forum will have way to many sub categories if we do that.

How about a thread preview "popup". eg. when viewing new threads hover the mouse over the thread link and receive a few lines from the beginning of the post instead of "View Topic".

Just went through all the user control panel and it's everything P4x4 needed ages ago.

Well Done on putting this together, I know that it will take time but the rest will follow. It's a physical and mental requirement to talk all things Patrol for some people. I know it keeps me saine!

On the home page - Not sure - I would need to look into this, however there is a VIEW NEW CONTENT button towards the top right of the pages (its red) - It will show you new content (forums) or members or classifieds. You can view either unread stuff, last 24 hours etc etc

I think this forum looks great, I'm liking the banner/logo and everything is easily accessible.

Is it possible to have a Today's Posts selector, rather than just the View New Content, as that doesn't keep track of posts in the same way? Maybe I'm used to one format, but it seems better, especially as I can then select directly from a list of posts the new post, rather than going to the start of a thread and then selecting the last page.

OK Ray - I spoke to the blokes who make this forum software and they gave me this nice bit of info - If your looking in the VIEW NEW CONTENT area and you want to go directly to the last viewed post for a given topic click the little blue dot on the left, rather than the topic name (which would take you to the first page) - I think this will make life easier...
