  1. I only have a wall mounted gas heater so I went and got a pedestal fan from the shed and set it up pointing up (hey I couldn't mount it to the ceiling!) The difference when circulating the air was 4 degrees which is amazing. Planning some ceiling fans (would have to be low profile so I don't get decapitated) or a ceiling height, wall mounted fan that I can use in winter. Sucks that my evaporative cooling doesn't have a recirculate function, that would be handy. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  2. Thank you for not including gratuitous borat man-kini photos admin...
  3. If a pedestrian is on my bonnet he has all ready passed through my bull bar and spotties so I reakon he would have other things going through his mind (like his or her ass !) Looks good mate, keep us up to date with the progress.
  4. Cool.. might do it in 2 stages - buy the lokka and then get it fitted. Ideally I'd like a air locker so I can control when it is engaged but that's just me. I have the arb compressor and wiring all ready installed and ready to go.
  5. I have the iron man oversize foam cell shocks and 2" lift and oversize damper. They were an excellent improvement when I first installed them and are still excellent now years later. I also got the HD springs - the bumps do seem smoother when you have a load in, but are comfortable when the car is empty too. I got mine from John Zordo at zordos suspension (Google it). He is very knowledgeable and doesn't sell you stuff that you don't need.. unlike other places.. Service is excellent too. He can fit there or just post the gear yo you. After sales service is great too, one of my spring tower rubbers was creaking (not his fault, they were just old) but he diagnosed it over the phone and sent me some for free.. that's excellent. 6. Are lokkas expensive to get someone to install? Buggered if I'm pulling a diff apart ... I don't have the equipment. Good idea ref: LSD I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if you get one setup.
  7. Good luck with the conversion mike, hope all goes well.. Chuck some pics up in a thread so we can watch! Cheers
  8. Sounds about right. A basic HF with antenna etc is likely to be around 3k new. License is $115 to get a call sign and legally transmit. You can get telephone calls over HF for $13 extra per month Inc 10 mins of calls. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  9. Yeah as mentioned they are handy when out in very remote areas. I'm planning a Mega trip into some remote areas on my way up to QLD, and while its likely I'll be travelling with another family I'll feel much better knowing I can reach the rfds or other travellers. The thing about these units is that they are very powerful and configurable. A normal uhf radio is 5watts. This one is around 130watts and has quite a sophisticated antenna. Lots of other cool features too. Sat phones are great and very popular. It is probably a good idea for me to hire one for that trip too. I've all ways wanted one of those kick ass grey antenna things of my own, since my army days. I'll be joining vks737 and doing a course on how to use it... its a licensed radio spectrum and I'll keep it all above board. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  10. Bought a HF Radio. Just working out how to get it to Adelaide from Perth. Once i get it here i need to work out how to install it - thinking about welding a bracket off my rear wheel holder / teloscopic light pole for the antenna base... Head unit should fit in the big hole in my roof console... Should be Awesome...
  11. I wanna get high - Cyprus Hill
  12. So that's where my cat went! Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  13. We had an earthquake in Adelaide last year. It was the most exciting thing to happen here in decades, ohh apart from that time that someone put dish washing liquid in the Victoria square water fountain. That was pretty radical... I think we all need to go to the high country for a week and look for damaged ruts and tracks. We will need to also provide emotional support by sitting around a camp fire drinking lots of bourban.
  14. Put some 2t in and gave it a little run.. couldn't get activ 2t so used normal castrol 2t.. seemed to do the same thing.. That's about it..
  15. Spice it up. Have a shower in the neighbours front yard
  16. How do you find the drifta draws/kitchen? I was thinking about getting one made up to replace my home made draws.. the drifter ones look good and are not over priced. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  17. Crikey you learn something new every day. I didn't realise that chariots had rubber tyres... well there you go! Not sure if the horse (tow vehicle) would like it either! Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  18. And then make a set for me? I should get the welder out and give it a crack..
  19. Some sites also allow federated authentication. I learnt this in depth on a recent lync and sharepoint admin course. It allows authenticated users from one provider (MSN,Facebook,AOL,Google) to use those credentials to authenticate on other resources. Its like kerberos. I don't use it as while it is probably convenient for people, you are allowing the trackers to use the logged in users details on the other site. Bad for corporate networks, mmmmkay. Information is king, and these days with people using social media thinking it is doing them a world of good, one day they will wake up naked, condom hanging out their arse and the Facebook like thumb looking at them with a big smile on its face... 20. They can get damaged if they unlock and relock while under load from what I have read. I replaced mine with manual hubs - when I need 4wd I get out and lock them in (usually I'll be dropping tyre pressures and doing a visual check of the car anyway). Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  21. Thanks, I'll suck some out with a syringe to get it down to the full mark. I didn't have any paste, the shims clipped onto the back of the pads pretty tight and I didn't notice any new noises.. will keep an ear out. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  22. I did get brake fluid on one of my tyres but washed it off with water.. should be OK?
  23. Replaced all brake pads with new Bendix 4x4 premium pads. Pads in there were Nissan branded so either the previous owner replaced them with genuine, or they have lasted 210,000km. Still had a few mm left but had some squeeks which are sorted now. The whole process was pretty easy.. Jack up car Remove wheel Loosen lid on brake master cylinder Undo the two bolts which hold the caliper in. Put them somewhere safe. Slide the piston caliper out and put it on the wheel. Pull old pads out. Put squeek shim on new pads. Use old pad and a g clamp to push brake prisons back in evenly Put new pads in calipers, replace calipers, bolts, etc as above. The brake pads are marked left/right/inner/outer. Repeat for the other 3 wheels. I ended up with brake fluid going everywhere out the top of the master cylinder.. its still above the full level.. not sure that is good or bad.. Don't forget to tighten master cylinder lid. Brakes are now back at the top of travel and feel really good. Took less than an hour and cost $100 for both front and rear sets (genuine Bendix - don't compromise on brake pads) Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  24. Ohh OK cool thanks. I went to replace mine with led but it was too hard to find a duel led park globe, too hard to pull mine out and I gave up... Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
