What brakes are you using in a ZD30?
Not sure mate.. I did some research and most people say they are really good.. not too hard and not too soft.. I'll update on sat once I have fitted them.. assuming I don't break something (pardon the pun) Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Manual Hubs
I bought my second hand manual hubs from a guy on p4x4. Was cheaper than avm and I have a lot of confidence in them. The sellers nickname was ls1, he had a heap of them.

Wheel Bearings - 100K ?
I had mine replaced not so long ago.. 208,000km I think I was at. Had been regreaesd before I'd say. New bearings got rid of lots of squeeks and wobbles. It also made my hubs cooler.. must have been a fraction too much friction.. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

More Snatch Strap Dangers
yeah I'm no expert so couldn't authoritivly say what it would do but from what I hear the general rule of thumb "tow balls are for towing, recovery points are for recovering" sounded good. Probably not a good concept to put out there either way if he had a recovery point in the hitch it might have been better? Besides, there is a perfectly good excavator on the work site which might have been a safer option? Either way, standing next to it while snatching probably isn't so good.. This radiator?
Not sure about that exact one though mikegq.. I'd feel a bit funny about getting one from Malaysia! Aluminium sounds fancy though! I replaced my OEM rad with one from natrad (I think).. its been really good.. Still have the old one in the shed if anyone wants it, don't know if it would fit a gq though.. Hungry Jacks grilled chicken burger
OK so I bought one of these and my wife slowly ate it. To my disappointment she hadn't turned into a hot younger chick. Should I be concerned?

No power to driver side hi beam
Sounds like someone might have used one of those dodgey crimp connectors to get a hi beam signal for spot lights... Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Gave the car a bit of a wash and vacuum. Put the awning out so it can dry in the shade. Replaced pro vent drain bottle. This is how much oil I have collected... Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

What brakes are you using in a ZD30?
I still have OEM fitted too. I had my brake fluid replaced which helped a bit, but am at about 30% left on my pads so probably time to start thinking about replacing them before any big trips at the end of the year. Let us know how you go with the softer pads, and also whatever the OP decides to do. As a side note on brake pad longinativity (spelling?) Since I had my auto trans fluid flushed and replaced with transmaxZ I have found that when I'm rolling down a steep hill in low 1st Im not using the brakes so much.. must save the pads a bit, and prevent fade... Joyriders ruin forest roads
We don't seem to have these problems in SA... All of our state forests have fences and gates around them so we can't get in. When there are bush fires there is always some statement like "the CFS could not save that property due to access problems" They get around it by buying helicopters to put out bush fires. How are these funded? Noticed a new fixed speed camera in my area on Saturday, with a mobile speed camera facing the other way up the road. Lowered the speed limit to 50 just up the road (removing a 70 sign makes the road a 50 zone) from a 70 zone. New helicopters can get upgraded to GT stripes... I might go get a photo of it, pretty Sus... Meanwhile kids have no idea what a waterfall sounds like, or what beautiful countryside looks like (without 120hz HD LCD screens). Hope they don't close all those forest tracks and camps you guys on the east coast. We love going over there every year and enjoying nature at its best !! Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

What did you do to your GU today?
Fitted some new HID spotlights. Still have to line up one of them properly (the mount is offset and I kinda got it a bit wrong, so I'll swing it around tomorrow to get it into adjustment) Bloody hell, on the way back home tonight through the hills they lit it up like daylight. Very impressed with the light these units put out. Would love to see what some of the bigger ones can do! I'm hooked! Got a spare set of normal 100w spotties (the rectangular ones that came with the patrol) if anyone is interested... Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Victoria, still the place to 4x4?
Yeah apart from trying to reduce pin striping I didn't find border track really challenging. Nice countryside but its no blue rag.. All of the good stuff in the flinders is behind locked gates. Good on the property owners for opening up their land but its all payed and not really that awesome. I was up there last weekend and was more worried about tyre damage than if I was going to complete any tracks. Yorkes, well apart from some dirt tracks and sand dunes I haven't seen much for free over there either. I hate to sound like a Tony Abbot and just be negative about it and not offer any solutions but I just can't see any. I was out looking for tracks the other weekend and dropped in to see what the going rate was to drive down to deep creek... crikey! I'd love to see some of the deep creek np, kuipto forest, and the one out the back of williamstown opened up. I've signed up for the 4wd action recent thing, will be interesting if it affects SA too. Sorry again if I sound like I'm moaning Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
