  • Fitted two more 12v power outlets to the rear of the centre console to run the 12v oven and power the kids electronic gear

  • Drove to Melbourne to clear a few outstanding issues and used it to test some tuning mods to my diesel chip. Diesel chip outcomes very good. Melbourne is a bigger shit hole than ever. Only one in ten

Crikey you learn something new every day. I didn't realise that chariots had rubber tyres... well there you go! Not sure if the horse (tow vehicle) would like it either! Sent from my Galaxy N

Reattached my rear number plate with 304 stainless M5x16mm bolts, spring washers and Nylon Nuts.

Replaced my second battery and used an ABR thermal cover... Who knows if it will help, but it looks good.

That's a lot of bolts....

Speaking of batteries, had to charge the primary one today, still the original since new it does look like I might have to look for a new one.

The thermal ABR cover mentioned, how much and where from as my secondary battery is a second one to fail so far, perhaps sitting on the hot side is not helping.

Cheers

Done some diagnose tests in my Patrol.

My local Nissan dealer likes to charge too much for this type of job, so I made the decision to buy a genuine Consult 3 VI interface and do all tests myself.

It will pay itself in a few work hours...

Car is in at the mechanics right now - Diagnosed the following:

  • Steering Dampner - Relacing with OME dampner
  • Drag Link - Replacing as current drag link is bent.
  • Tie Rod ends - Replacing
  • Front Left wheel bearing - Loose, may need nip up or replacing

Then on its second visit in a week or two's time it will be getting...

  • Caster bushes
  • Sway bar extn bracket kit + Bushes

Seems crazy to wait a couple of weeks to do the caster bushes - this requires a lot of double handling, which is OK for a DIY, but why pay labour twice?

I had the car booked in to fix the drag link and then for them to do a complete inspection - Which is where they found the other issues. They dont have the time nor parts to fix the caster today - But I need the rest done as I have a long trip planned very soon, so need the car back. Once i return from the trip I will book it in again for the rest.. PITA, but meh - its the best I can do.

Fitted my remote winch controls and looked at my Cav fitter fitting location fitted my UNO filter droppie and pre filter head also got a fitting to hook in the boost gauge after the ic when I fit my boost control

Ran a new earth to the EGT. Cleaned earth batt terminal adjusted draglink to align steering wheel pulled the left headlight out and dried the water out in it chucked the boggers on and discovered front driver side wheel bearing about to collapse. Run around and get a new set and installed. Grease uni's and tailshafts in the morning and pack the truck and head for the hills for 5 days. The end.

Fitted some new HID spotlights.

Still have to line up one of them properly (the mount is offset and I kinda got it a bit wrong, so I'll swing it around tomorrow to get it into adjustment)

Bloody hell, on the way back home tonight through the hills they lit it up like daylight. Very impressed with the light these units put out. Would love to see what some of the bigger ones can do! I'm hooked!

Got a spare set of normal 100w spotties (the rectangular ones that came with the patrol) if anyone is interested...

Gave the car a bit of a wash and vacuum.

Put the awning out so it can dry in the shade.

Replaced pro vent drain bottle. This is how much oil I have collected...
