May 14, 201213 yr comment_2201 Cooma. Stuff that for a Joke. I'm sitting here in Sydney freezing my arse off because the aircon at the front of the house has chit itself and I have been lazy and haven't put the new one in yet. Just finished talking to a friend about some steel and fittings for a veg fired house heater I'm building. Can't wait to get that up and running. If this new Chariot is a Turbo, how can it be slow? Even my tired old NA will easily hold the speed limit on the highway even up the hills. If it's slugish, just give the fuel screw a tweak and you'll be flying. Report

If this new Chariot is a Turbo, how can it be slow? x2. . . . and she is naturally asthmatic currently. . . . so yes, quite slow -compared to my rb30 turbo GQ anyways lol. I just got home, i had a sleep for a few hrs just north of Cann river(until i nearly froze to death). Car got the normal economy(admittedly a little disconcerting to drive 80km and hardly see the gauge move, Im used to the rb30 now, thats 1/4 of a tank!), i filled up on the hume before the turnoff to canberra, it got home (around 750km) with a 1/3 of the main tank remaining(according to gauge, ill find out for sure when i fill up). i used the subtank. so getting around 12litres per 100kays sitting near as i could on the speed limit. -cruise control is nice. pics in a few hr, im having a shower an gonna have a rest before i face the day. May 15, 201213 yr comment_2248 tim will only ever think about putting a duramax in a current shape GU. and he would end up building it as a super trourer and keeping it. ha Report
May 15, 201213 yr comment_2249 I must be some kind of clean freak. I've never had a dirty engine bay, or interior for that matter, in any Patrol that I've ever owned. They have been dirty after a 4WD trip, but I always pressure clean them as soon as I get home, and the interior is vacuumed and cleaned as necessary. And polishing is so worthwhile. After our last trip, I was certain that the pinstripes would be really bad, but after a good wash and re-waxing, the paintwork looks pretty good. Cheers Ray Report
May 15, 201213 yr Author comment_2274 My interior gets dirty. . . i do the same as Ray!, pressure-wash it. -also found it good if you get to it before she dries out.... High tide mark in one of my GQ's. same tide on a GU of mine. Edited May 15, 201213 yr by Jacket_1985 Report

May 18, 201213 yr Author comment_2853 Started tidying up a few bits today. Front door hinge was stuffed. New one i got yesterday. Have to take the door off to get the hinge out. found an old sock works good to stop you chipping your door/sill paintwork. New one in place. . . door opens/closes good now. Report
May 18, 201213 yr Author comment_2867 You can also undo bottom of gaurd to get hinge out!!! Still difficult for GU top hinge. but yes -that is the other option. . . . remove guard, As a side point, ill say nearly any wrecker you go to will have no upper RHS GU hinges left. . . . they are somewhat of a crap design. tip: pinch a lower left hand side one(all wreckers seem to have these, and they are about half the price lol.) they are cross interchangeable. bottom right fits top left, top right fits bottom left. Thats good, they used to be a button, but without a light, so it was a pain to see if they on or not. . . . do you crash-lock ever? (flick switch with wheels spinning) Report
