  1. Just took a look at mine and the top and bottom hinges appear to be different to each other so I can't see why the bottom left would suit the top right and visa versa?

A whole lotta junk in the trunk!
  3. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
  4. That's bad luck, maybe head further down Canunda way?
  5. Beach looks a little treacherous in that pic....Good Luck!
  6. For the most part there is nothing challenging about the border track save a small section here and there that can easily be bypassed.
  7. Another thumbs up for the Aldi Solder kit! cheers.
  8. I'm more worried about tearing the flares off than anything, and of course the higher gearing that comes with a larger circumference tyre.
  9. ....just myself and my son on the way home from the footy. The track seemed OK, a little slushy in spots but plenty of grip beneath so I hadn't locked the auto hubs or deflated the STT's at all and we were just chatting away not particually paying attention. Before I knew it, the climb up out of the gully I had just mindlessly entered was a lot steeper and slippery than I had given it credit and we weren't going anywhere. I tried reversing, but the GU just slewed to the side and before we knew it we were at a diagonal angle and in trouble, so it was out to let the tyres down and have another go... ...all I achieved was sliding further back down into the gully, so I powered it up in reverse in the hope that it might put me partially up the other side for another run up.... How wrong, we were now off the track in the muddy creek at the bottom and stuck in clay up to the rear diff! To cut to the chase, it took four full length cable pulls from the Aldi winch to get us to the point where there was enough traction to keep moving, lesson learnt! (well several really) If I had gone into it prepared I would have more than likely made it through without much drama, I was halfway up the hill initially with tight tyres and in high range, but the tyres I think are the main weakness, they are now at 50% and really only good for day to day and sand work, and once STT's fill with clay they are next to useless anyhow. So it's time to bite the bullet and buy some play tyres for winter that offer extremely good grip in mud and clay, but as I only have 2" lift and run standard ratio diffs I don't want to go over 33". What would the recomendation be, simex or silverstone extemes and how much improvement will I expect considering I won't be gaining any ground clearance?
  10. One of these days I will have to work out how to pull off the pillar covers in a GU and do exactly that.
  11. Looked like fun.
  12. It only works for a while, but a good wash with warm soapy water seems to help, some silicon spary around the slot also helps.
  13. Evidently most fags leave them attached so they can go back for seconds.
  14. WARNING!!! Don't open the link! LOL!
  15. Macgyver award coming up....LOL.

I'm in Vic thanks all the same and apparently it's only the fuse holder where the cable attachs to the house, beneath the guttering, that needs replacing. The cable from the pole was replaced several years ago now and you are corrrect that was a free service as it is owned by the power company but anything attached to that is my responsibility.
  19. jamus replied to Tonka's topic in General Discussion
Had to relent and let the power company finally fit their smart meter after the third attampt recently and found something out in the process. Apparently the fuse holder (where the cable from the street joins the cable from the house on the eaves) is shot, probably from old age and corrosion, the fuse crumbled away when he went to remove it prior to starting work. Now he tells me that it would be dangerous to use a welder until I have it replaced as I could end up with a hot spot there and real prospect of a fire starting in the eaves. This advice may just be a lifesaver, but the cost involved is something I am yet to get to the bottom of. Apparently I need an Electrician to carry out the work ( OK I gathered that much) I need a truck from the power company to disconnect power at the pole in the street, (hourly rate possibly $500+), and on top of that I need an inspector present as well ($$$) All up at least $1,000, which was a bit of a jaw dropper at the time, but I respect that it will need to be done, I just need to get some firm pricing on it all. I was surprised to hear that in some coastal areas they had experienced nearly 100% need for this to be done in the older areas of towns. Meanwhile I have a new mig welder in the shed that I haven't been game to use...

  22. It's no good just disposing of the dog, she'll just get upset and get another, meaning that you will suffer the same fate for the rest of your days together. What you really need to do is start a campaign to cause her to hate the dog with such passion that you will be the one who looks to be doing the only compassionate thing by taking it to the vet for sleepy time. The dog has to start to become unbearable, so what does she hold dear? Time for a chewed and shredded wedding photo album, or maybe dog turd diarrhea on the doona or the couch or both!!! The options are endless, but don't let up until she is begging you to get rid of the damn thing, you owe it to husbands everywhere to win this one! p.s. don't get caught...
