Hi everyone, I have a 2011 3.0L Patrol & I have dual batteries. The 2nd battery Century N70T deep cycle is mounted in the engine bay on the passenger side with a arb tray behind the airfilter box. Currently using a Projecta isolator. Ive had this setup for 12months now & the 2nd battery is stuffed already. I really dont want to replace batteries every year. So Im thinking of replacing my isolator with a Redarc DC to DC charger which will charge my batteries to it full capacity. The location of the 2nd Battery is not the greatest as its next to the turbo & exhaust manifold so there is alot of heat over that side of the engine bay which I think killed my …

G'day guys. I have a 2004 guiv with a zd30 and abs. I am looking at setting up a dual battery system between my air box and coolant bottle. I have bought a cheap generic battery tray from super cheap auto and I will be welding up mounts myself. I am also looking at getting the redarc isolator. My questions are: 1: what is the maximum size battery I could fit (agm or deep cycle)? (For those who have a similar setup already) 2: do I need to worry about engine temps while mounting my battery there? Thanks for your time guys.

Over the last few days ive been working on installing the BCDC 1220 into my new patrol after taking it out of my previous Patrol. The install was a pain in the arse as I first had to remove an old Pirhana Dual battery system (which was a basic isolator rather than sofistocated DC-DC charger like the redarc). After removing the pirhana I had to mount the redarc and then re mount an existing fuse box. I ended up using a piece of angle aluminium and stainless steel bots/nuts to hold it in place. The fuse block has heavy guage wire soldered to each fuse terminal and I covered the whole lot with flexible conduit to insulate it and hot then glued it into place. Here…

Ok.. Been bugging me for a bit.. I got every other light on the bus (finally) working but this one.. I started by pulling the light out and checked the globe.. All good. Plug is good on low but nothing on hi. I've pulled the steering column apart to check the switches. All is good there but I did notice that the driving lights have been wired into this wire also to the solenoid so I'm not sure if this could be my issue.. So what am I missing??

I have the wire for my IC thermo relay and the alternator sensor wire connected to the power wire to the wipers. When the thermo and wipers are both on, my alt, hand break and sub tank light flash as the wipers sweep the screen. Is there another ignition switched wire somewhere under the bonnet that I can use and give the sensor wire a better dose of power? The lights stay out when I run the sensor wire from the battery.

Hi all, I did a search, not much on this yet. Anyone have any suggestions or clever ideas for a replacement main battery on my 1999 GU diesel 4.2? I bought it with what looks like a "nothing special branded" 600CCA battery from Tyrepower. Century comes up with a N70ZZL4WD for my model - around $200+ I don't have a second battery, don't really need one yet so would like something first class if you know what I mean. Any comments appreciated, otherwise I'll wonder around town looking for something that fits... Cheers

Today I installed an Anderson plug to the back of my patrol. It charges the batteries in my camper trailer while im travelling. I used 6B&S wire with convoluted tubing to protect it the entire length of the vechile. I protected the Anderson plug with an ABR sidewinder cover with a spring loaded lid and secured the thing to my Kaymar rear bar with 4mm 304 Stainless bolts, washers and locknuts and some locktight to ensure it never comes off. At the engine end I will be using either an inline fuse (like the one pictured) or one of those self reseting breakers - Im yet to make a decision on that thou. Ive also included a picture of the 6B&S wire terminated to a …

Hey guys. I've got a 1990 GQ RB30. I am in the process of connecting my tacho up after installing an MSD ignition. I've got the wiring diagram but cannot seem to understand what the engine revolution sensor is or what it does or where it is. On the diagram the -pulse wire from the dizzy splits, one going to the -wire on the coil and the other through a resistor to the engine revolution sensor then to the tacho. I thought the tacho should just get a negative pulse from the -coil wire but as my msd is using the -pulse wire from the original -coil I've got to connect it up to the tacho out from the MSD box. My other option was to splice the -pulse wire with the MSD pickup w…

Just received 2 x 5m strips of "warm white" LED lights courtesy of some Chinaman on EBay. What can I say they are fantastic. I brought this batch to install in the boat, but now I'm casting my eye towards other things including the Patrol so I'm sure I'll be finding a zillion uses for them.

There have been many variations of implementing this system. The system I have built is based on the work of many others on here http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/nissan-patrol-gu-gr-10/patrol-auto-converter-lock-up-11914/ I have just finished putting it all together after procrastinating for months, since electronics is not my strong point. But it was successful, and I'm happy with the result. I made a version that takes a feed from the Vehicle Speed Sensor so that the system stays in factory mode until the speed is over 60kph, when it is possible to switch the override on and lock the converter. When speed drops below 55kph, the system disarms, so you can't leave…

Just wondering if anyone with a new model tigerz11 12k Grande winch can take a photo of the sticker showing the position of the handle in the engaged and free spool positions? I've mounted mine and I can't recall which way it is... also is it the little pointy end or the bigger end that points to the position? I'm guessing engaged is 180degrees from free spool but I just want to be sure. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Hey all. I've got a problem that I and many others have never seen before. I have a rb30 on lpg and turbo running an MSD 6BTM ignition module. Now the problem is the distributor cap. After about 130km the engine will start to missfire under light load (when accelerating in traffic) and the distributor cap is full of black powdery dust. Now its not carbon build up as far as I know and if if was then I have a serious problem because it is about a 2-3mm thick coating on everything under the dizzy cap after only 130km. I have put in a new CAS, rotor button and dizzy cap and it is still filling up with this dust. What can this dust be? I've checked all the moving parts from th…

I bought one of these http://www.radioande...al-shunt-2.html for my van so i can keep an eye on whats going on. I have dual batteries and am guessing for this thing to work properly all wiring that comes off the batteries would need to go through this thing for the amps etc to show properly? If so, there are about 8 - 10 fairly thick wires coming off the batteries, so I'd need to fit something to put the wires into one plug so i can run them through this, is that right? Or can i just hook it up to a battery direct? Cheers

I recently installed a Projecta dual battery monitor and I must say that Im very impressed with it. The display is fantastic and it really gives you a good idea on your battery health. The whitish smear over the face of the unit is from when I used metho to clean the dash prior to puttin on the double sided tape to hold the unit in place.. I got it everywhere. video here My starter battery is a little on the sad side - as you can see from the video and images. I have a redarc 1220 which charges the second battery for me - Extremly good unit.

My blinkers stopped working the other week (don't worry the MK isn't registered yet) and I have been trying to figure it out, testing the different wires and such. Tonight I thought I'd check the hazard switch and what do you know it was buggered. Mq mad (p4x4) gave me one so plugged it in and presto, blinkers. Now to get the horn working.
