I love the Song Title Game on Patrol 4x4, so I thought I would start a version here. The idea is you have a song title, a dash - then the singer or band, a word is taken from the original title and used in the next song, does not need to be the same singer or band, it just rolls on from the word lifted from the previous title. I don't have a problem with covers as long as they are legitimate. The more words you borrow from the previous title the more of a legend you are and if you can keep a key word going your an even bigger legend It is handy if you can underline the key word(s) So to start it off: House of the Rising Sun - The Animals

Hope this isn't too left of field for this forum but I'm looking for some people to work part time doing Photo sales. I had some people lined up but need more than I thought now. I have about 5 weeks work from the beginning of November to early December and a couple of weekends beyond that till Christmas. The work is at various locations, mainly in the west of Sydney presenting photos of kids to the parents and taking orders. There is no selling as such, more just informing parents of the pricing of the packages and options available. There are basically 2 Shifts per day, Mon- Fri 9 am to about 12- 1 and 3:30 to 6:30-7. Weekends are usually 8 am to 12 or 3 …

A while back I was channel surfing and saw a program called Fat sick and Nearly dead. http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com/ Its about an over weight guy that goes on a health kick with " Juicing" and he and another guy in the show loose a PILE of weight just by drinking vegetable juice. Theres no back end in this I can see unlike some weight loss programs that are trying to sell you food or pills or whatever,, the message is eat fresh, healthy food. With the doctors on my back from all directions about being 120Kg and wanting me to loose weight, I thought I'd give this Juicing thing a go. In the film that's all they do, drink juice for every meal. The weight c…

Just came across this westy and thought of you mate. I'm not sure how helpful it is as it appears to be written by a woman and you have to take every thing on the net with a grain of salt anyway. Some of what they say no too looks perfectly OK to me and I can't see the problem but maybe it's a politically correct thing or something. Might be OK to print out and put in the babys room or something. Anyway, hope it helps.

Hi guys, About 11 weeks ago I ordered a DVD box set from a company called KangarooDVD.com. After repeated e-mails it finally arrived today. These f#$%wits sent me a pirate copy of the series I was after, each episode was recorded off the TV and burnt to DVD. The picture and sound quality is f#$%ing terrible. I have reported this site to AFACT (Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft) but I am not holding my breath for them to do anything. I will also be putting up warnings on every forum that i can think of as well as FaceBook not to buy anything from these a$$holes. I should at least get my money back when I dispute the charge on my credit card. They have a ve…

I needed to buy an on camera flash for some work I am doing. I really don't like these on camera things even though they are all the rage now with people that think manually setting an apeture and shutter speed value on their camera and flash is too difficult. My 25+ y/o Metz hammer heads do me just fine but unfortunately, are too big for the underwater bags I'm using. I couldn't bring myself to paying $600 for the genuine canon units having used them before and being particularly unimpressed with them. I heard about these Chinese Things and read some good Reviews. The place I have bought some other cheap studio lighting gear from Which has all been excellent) had …

This last couple of days I have come across some first hand examples of how thick some people are. The best one goes to the person that applied to the Job I advertised. I'm sure no one here will doubt me when I say I went into good specific detail in the ad so any prospective applicant had a good idea what it was about from the word go. Last night I got an application that said. " I am interested in this ad position". That was it. No other detail what so ever. So pittying the poor idiot, I replied: "That's bloody great, I'm interested in finding someone to fill the position. Seeing you didn't have enough sense to put your details or anything about yourself in y…

I have been asked to go to NZ for a weekend to shoot an event there. I don't have a current passport atm ( and believe I don't need one) but do I have to have a visa ? If so, how long would it take to get? The job is at the end of October so I'd need it by then. I looked on the Nz travel website but It wasn't clear to me what the requirements are so hoping some of the well travelled can tell me.

This is another example of why I hate the Greens and the general green movement: http://inhabitat.com/up-stream-is-foot-powered-washing-machine-made-from-recycled-materials-that-costs-just-4/. Greens just love to come up with ideas to help third world countries, to stay third world countries, by developing manual tools for the poor, suffering, people, rather than pushing for electricity, motorised tools and equipment etc. The noble savage must retain their dignity. Thinking one of these tablet things may be useful and wondering if people can reccomend something good and suitable for me. I would want to utilise it for showing and sending pics, linking it to my camera with Wi-fi for transfer and backup of pics and If I can linking it to my printers both with a cable and/ or wirelessly so I might be able to click on an image on the screen and Print the thing. Can I run Lightroom or something on these tablets? what about word, excel etc? Not sure what else I can do with it yet but I would prefer one that has a SD card slot I can use for extra memory storage (if any come with them) and have USB ports so I could also plug in a …

I wanted to do something like this for a while after a number of debates on a couple of forums, so thought why the hell not. I'm sure that it will rankle a few, but if you're going to debate things, then take some time to get the facts in order and make it a reasoned debate, rather than shooting from the hip in a fit of rage; afterall, it took me a bit of time to compile this in order to be as comprehensive as possible (whether I'm right or wrong). Is Linux for you? After playing with Linux (mainly Ubuntu) on and off for several years and having been a Windows user since its inception, apart from a short foray with Apple (way back), I thought I would pen my thoughts…

I touched on this the other day in another thread but had another reminder of it today. I was recently looking for some parts and the pricing discrepancy's between local and OS sellers were amazing. The best local price I could find on GP's was $20 ea. Got a set from OS which arrived in 8 days and cost $30.40 delivered. A clutch here best I can find is $525. OS price delivered is $230 Belt tensioner here is $240+, os, 160 del. I was talking to a mate earlier this morning who also had a similar story. He wanted the Lettering for his $100K range Rover sport. Price here, $250 each end. Got the same GENUINE kits from OS for $29 + 12 postage for the tailgate…

I’ve seen a bit of excitement lately about SSDs vs Hard Disk Drives on many of the tech sites/forums, especially since the price of SSDs have been falling and capacities have been increasing, though nowhere near the $/GB factor of traditional spinning platters. I've also been hinting at backup and recovery options in some recent posts and noted Linux as being a good option should things go wheels up on your PC. However, that only provides you with a way to recover data and not your operating system (OS) and programs that you may have installed on your PC. If your PC goes wheels up, you may be able to recover your OS, but you're usually going to have to re-install all o…

My daughter just gave me a crash course in face waste and all I can say is What in the F*8#k is wrong with people to spend time on that garbage???? But anyway, as it's so inexplicably popular, I want to utilise it for my benefit and the enjoyment of my clients. I was just looking at some Vids of what a company in the US do and would like to do the same. The scenario would be.... Say I am photographing an event, say a corporate golf day I have coming up. What I want to be able to do is have the shots on my laptop or a tablet and be able to email or send or transfer or make available whatever the heck it is to that person quick and easy. What I saw on the vid…

Here's an interesting set of figures showing the ststus of operating systems in use in the world: http://gs.statcounter.com/#os-ww-monthly-201106-201206 Even Vista is ahead of OSX and iOS combined! And for those who might be interested in Windows 8, you'll be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro (which runs on any PC x86 OS) for $40 via an internet download, or buy a DVD for $70. Apparently that will be the price worldwide, rather than stupid price hikes you usually experience with software. It might be worth buying the boxed version just to have an cheap upgrade path after they've fixed all the problems. http://windowsteamblog.com/windows/b/bloggingwindows/ar…
