I just thought id start a thread on other non 4x4 forums, one i like to use is http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/ , its a good general allround ozzie forum on everything from solar panels to computers and loads more. I find it quite usefull and hopefully some of you that havent seen it might like it. Does anyone else have anything worth a look? cheers Wayne

I have a couple of spare 100w spotties i was thinking of mounting on the front of my full length rack. I'm just trying to work out the best way to run the wiring to the lights without looking like shyte. I'm kinda thinking out the grill in front of the windscreen, tuck it into the gutter beside the windscreen then up the leg of the rack to the spotties. Does anyone else have any thoughts that may work better? Cheers Wayne

I changed mine around 150k although it wasnt playing up, i was hoping it was going to save me some juice, i think ive cleaned it once only ever. The old one is in the glove box for a spare.

I was going to say 285s kill it, but yours edu is running them with good results, there goes my theory! Do you have 285s on dronus? I know with my 285s the speedo is exactly the same as the gps at 100kph. Mine runs the same hwy or city, with the van on (just under 2 ton) i think it runs around 5.3 - 5.5 kpl. I suppose for prolly around 5 ton its not to bad! Wayne

Other than the detail the 3" zaust went on today, very happy!! I've ignored the old girl for a few years, was ready to ditch her for a new ford ranger, changed my mind so thought i owed her a cleanup. In fairness to her she has never missed a beat from new! 9 years and 176k.

Thats what i had done to mine a week back, looks like brand new, took him 5 hours or so, $275 inc gst, how much are you geting charged? It would literally take me 2 days if i did it my self!

I just thought it looked to bloody hard and I'm too lazy! Leave it to the experts! Well driving home from Ipswich to the goldy was interesting. My truck has 285s, bullbar, full length rack, winch, two choca rear drawers, back seat full of work gear, and 3 ladders on the roof, so not very aero dynamic, I'd hate to think what it weighed! It also has dtronic, cross country i/c, Dawes/needle valve and now the exhaust of course. I can't say it felt like it accelerated much better and was a bit disappointed. I did start to notice the difference going up the first decent hill doing sixty though. Normally I have to start flattening it to the point where it drops back a gear but it just coasted up on light throttle! And lost no speed. On the highway it definitely coasts along a lot easier to the point where I'm expecting to save a bit of juice. Turbo temps are prolly down anywhere between 20 & 50 to 60 degrees overall. Just an idea of how it runs overall, at 110 kph it revs at 2350rpm, turbo roughly 330 ish and boost around 14 pound, boost always seems high to me but seems to performs well. If I wind down the needle valve the turbo temp rises instantly, so I leave it on max. I'll keep an eye on it, I'd expect the turbo temp to be around 300 at that speed, what are others getting? I'll report back in a week or so re fuel, I always get around 5.8 to 6.5 kpl, usually right on 6.3, so hopefully she'll save me some money. I suspect the big wheels are partly to blame for the high thirst. I wish I had have put the damn exhaust on when I bought it. Hopefully it'll hall the van a bit easier! That's the main reason, more power and torque. Sorry about the long read. Cheers Wayne

I'm just sitting in Ipswich now waiting for my 3" Scott's rods exhaust to go on. I've got the dtronic and cc inter cooler so this should be interesting, especially since I've been humming and haaing about it for 9 bloody years!

I wasnt as popular as you were on there Ray but i feel exactly the same, ive really settled into this forum and cant really be bothered even looking at the old one, saying that alone will probably get me banned! There seems to be enough on here to keep me coming back.

Ive had a full set of sandgrabbas in mine for 9 years, they have been fantastic and youd think the carpets are still brand new after all that time.

LOL, im always good for a quote, its just getting the job done! And i mainly stick to the goldy, although i can get to the southside if youre struggling for a hand, let me know how you go.

Auto or manual? Mines an auto, same tyres, always around 16 litres per 100, so im guessing mine is similar to yours. I also have a full length rack, winch, bar, drawers choco full of stuff, no snorkel. I took my rack off but it didnt make one iota of difference. I think the 285s kill it, did you put them on around the same time as the rack? I've also got a dtronic and am getting a 3" exhaust tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see if the fuel economy gets better and the turbo temps drop. Overall, my fuel economy is crap, especially when i see similar getting around 10 - 11litres per 100k.

Roof tiling and roof painting plus repairs, its a great business but just stressing me out a bit, not enuff time to get out and enjoy things, but anyway.

I'm actually dumfounded theyre banning people, seems pretty trivial, youd think theyd want to hang on to members.

I hear ya Glort, my business is killing me, its like it grows as do the bills, insurances, licences, fukups, fukwits, building services authority and all the other crap with it! I made the decision recently to clean it up and will make an attempt to sell it in a year or two, its a sad thing when your business is so busy that the phone ringing 24/7 drives you mad and you can't keep up with work, and i feel bad getting pissed off and burnt out when i know there are other tradies that are really suffering without work, but christ, i cant even squeeze a 7 day holiday in! The only other option i have is to wind it back a little i suppose, but easier said than done. Anyway, if i can have a bitch on here now and again i may not need to go to a phsyciatrist!!

I'm real fukn cranky the last few months, but especially the last couple of weeks. I run a business with a few staff, always fukups, whinging customers that dribble on about shit, cant go on a fukn holiday because ive got no one to take the reins. Was sposed to go away two weeks ago but work was too busy, i was too bloody stressed out, had enough of everything lately. No wife problems shes one of the best women a man could want, doesnt say boo or give me any trouble. I think most of my stress revolves around my business. I cut back on the spirits the last week or so, prolly my problem, not that i drink much, only a can of coke a night and two nips, but fuk it works wonders! Other than that im ready to go to the doctor and see if i can some sort of medication because im at my witts end. Fuk, i even feel better getting that out! Cheers, and good luck to other stressers!

In qld i thought they were going to bring in these safety cars with big rubber bullbars to push the broken down cars off the bloody road, but ive never seen it yet. And if a coppers fining someone in a 100 zone you can be guaranteed all the fuckwits!!! will slow to 75 just to make sure they are well under a 100!! And it shits me! Im afraid we're all going to have to put up with it, theres no cure, my rant over!
