More Snatch Strap Dangers
nasty accident that could have been prevented, but hay one lucky fella as a kid on the farm we used to tow an old steel havester wheel behind the ute only had chains back then so i know its common practice to fix the tracks but using a snatch strap for this and fencing wire? maybe they will rethink the whole concept Alan

Recovery Points
Hi Ray , they are bolted to the strongest part of the bar in a straight line pull the bar is bolted on using 50 % more bolt capacity than the hooks and is supported over a large area of the chasis again on a straight line pull and the towbar itself and the chasis brace the hooks from pulling together under load for the work i do this setup will be fine and is far superior to a single recovery point but thanks for your concern Alan

Recovery Points
Hi all id sooner have two 10000lbs hooks mounted next to the chasis than to pull off 1 point in the centre of a towbar with a max tow limit of 3500kg remember most of the stuff we bolt onto our beloverd trucks doesnt meet aus standards for lifting & rigging and is not tested to destruction Alan

Snatch Strap Hitch
ARHHH but you will use a single attachment point on a towbar rated at 3500 kg and remember theese dont meet aus standards for lifting and rigging so the 5-1 factor does not apply chains are part of most recovery kits and are used as an equalizing to hook your snatch strap to the origonal front tow point looks pretty strong too but we pull them off and fit 2 why is that ? Alan

Snatch Strap Hitch
hay yer it worked fine until it broke and killed somone as big GU said use tow hooks and a strap to equilize the stress read the manual dont ever snatch from 1 point Alan

Recovery Points
i agree towballs are not recovery points neither are towbars they are rated for max 3500 kg my rig is 3 ton x3 =9 ton in a snach i have seen quite a few towbars bent like bannanas i have hooks bolted to the sides of the towbar and use a equalizing chain reece hitch adapters are only good for towing not snatching Alan
