GQ drivers seat
Mine has gone.. It snapped the pivot a while back, so I repaired it but didn't get it spot on. Now it's loaded the left side rail and it bent under the extra weight.. Been looking.. City dismantles in Adelaide are useless.. 3 phone calls and no returns.. And the local yard wants $150 for a complete seat with a massive tear down the outside edge... Is this still a fair price?? Or are the cousins changeable easily??

What did you do to your GQ today!
I'm on a roll.. Today was the window wipers.. After 480 000ks the originals were getting a bit sad.. The blade was nearly flat on the window.. Lol So of to repco to get some blades and spines.. I first got the 430mm blades but the 450's give a full window wipe.. Next to get the old arms off.. Pretty simple.. First I undid the bolts under the cover, then using a small tyre lever and a but of timber to lever against they just pop off.. There a cone spline so they come off easy.. Right'o.. I gave them s light sanding to remove loose paint and roughen it a little. A quick wipe with the rubbing alcohol and hung them to dry.. 3 coats of gloss black later... And I've bolted them back on.. I have used never seize so there easier next time.. So smooth a quite... Well worth the $70..

SS snorkel for GQ patrol
I love the concept... Lol.. I was looking at it before and the Sam Ariel is in the way.. So I might yet flip the top filter around and run it down the drivers side pillar... I'm not to keen on the bonnet entry...

SS snorkel for GQ patrol
Mine is a n/a 4.2.. So I'm thinking 4'.. I got some prices of new 316 4' gear.. $52 for a 90 degree elbow, $38 for the 45 elbow and $400 for a 6mtr 4' length... So to do it new your looking at $600 project.. + freight.. I'm off to make some phone calls to the scrap yards...

SS snorkel for GQ patrol
Ok. I'm looking at making a stainless snorkel for the GQ.. I have posted here as I have a few flaws in my plan and what to discuss them.. Flaw no.1. Size.. I do realize size does matter and this is my first hurdle.. I have a few 3' elbows in the shed but I'm wondering if there to small? I have been told 5' but that would be massive IMO... What about 4'? Would need to source the lot but we have a scrap yard and the local paper mill is pulling Ss pipe out all the time.. Flaw no.2. Entry into bonnet The preformed elbows are quite large in 3' and can only assume bigger again in 4'.. I don't want to remove to much body, but I don't want the snorkel hanging 100mm off the body.. I have thought about using a rubber 90 degree bend here as they are a lot tighter... But it's rubber... Sorta spoils the stainless look.. And I don't like hose clamps... Flaw no.3. And the biggest one yet.. I want to bypass my pre cleaner and head for the top mount filter. Why?? Why not?? Less restrictions of air (only one filter), no bloody long pipe running down the entire 1/4 panel.. I want to try and completely seal it up so no water can enter the system under the bonnet.. But were will the rain drain to that comes threw the snorkel??? So throw up some thoughts.. I wanna get it right (mostly right anyway) the first time.. Cheers

LWB rear side windows
Thanks I was thinking Perspex because you can get it thicker (10-14mm) and pre tinted.. Once my draw system is in there will be no use for a window at all..
-
I'm in lo-urve...
They adhesive back makes them so usefull.. A mate made a flat plate and covered it with them, when facing down from a 4mtr height they throw some good light.. Also around your back door, and inside your draw system.. A-zillion uses...

Just to get the ball rolling. . .
BigGQWesty replied to Dylan91's topic in Nissan Patrol GQ/Y60 & Ford Maverick (GQ Patrol, 1988–1997)How many K's has your bus done? I did think about doing mine, but at 480,000 I think I'll just wait till it pops then get a recon'd turbo'd engine..

Must say I've never noticed a 'patch' on the side of my 91.. But to be honest it's not the sorta thing you look for.. The tar and foil sounds sorta suss... It's is after all just a sump..
