About a month back I fitted one of these little boost compensators to the Mighty 4.2 with Schwitzer Turblow. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Turbotech-manual-turbo-boost-controller-ORIGINAL-/220798194994?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3368991532 I searched the net and read good reports on the things so I ordered one. Postage was a bit slow but I fitted it up when it arrived and lifted the boost from the 7 psi I was getting to 10. It actually runs to 11 if you give it some stick, but for the most part with reasonable driving 10 is the effective pressure I'm seeing. Fitting was a 30 second exercise as on my truck I just selectively cut the existing h…

As some would know I have been a proponent of water injection for some years now. Runing vehicles on veg oil, the big but hugely overstated fear is the engines coking up due to the veg not burning properly. A while back the pump I use for the WI on my truck got rubbish in it and jammed. I was meaning to replace it but you know how things get. It was still running, out of sight, out of mind. Probably haven't had it going since the beggining of summer. The other week my old girl started running rough and showing all the signs of dropping a cylinder. That neck snappin, eye rolling Torque only a historical NA 4.2 can give had well and truly faded, She was starting to bl…

I have a 1994 4.2Ti GQ Patrol in which the right hand side rear seatbelt is very quick to lock on the way out. A release then re-pull sometimes works but other times it repeatedly locks. The Ti has a built-in fridge and rear air con which makes removing the right hand side seatbelt a bit of a session as it would appear that even the fridge has to be removed to get the assembly out! As the anchor bolt moves out it presses against the rear air-con pipes even when they are loosened from the fridge case. Anybody know any tricks to getting a seatbelt to behave itself or would I be better replacing it with a new/secondhand part?

I have an 18 yo girl working for me ATM. Put her on in desperation last year as I needed help and hoped shed get me through the week She turned out to be a bloody legend, able to think on her feet, solve problems and is a really good worker. She puts on what must be an act she's a scatterbrain but proves the opposite to be true. I have been trying to get hold of her all weekend. Gave up calling and tried texting. NO reply. I knew then she was avoiding me. My kids checked her facewaste and by evidence of up to the minute posts, she was still alive. I know her phone is with her about the same as her arms and legs so therefore she had seen I was trying to get hold …

I recently converted my IPF spread beam spotties to HID. Being a tight arse I bought a $38 kit from an Aussie seller in Sydney (although from the email conversation I would guess he is Asian) called Roadbider. One of the ballast was DOA so I flicked him an e mail asking if I would need to post it back or send pics of it not working. He posted another ballast that day. No need to send him anything, just took my word for it and did the right thing. I have no affiliation ect. He has a 2 year warranty on his gear and did the right thing by me so I am sharing the word.

As I have ranted previously, I'm a big fan of water injection. Being slack, I haven't yet got round to fitting it to the wifes car although I did turn the fuelling up heaps. This is a danger when you are running veg fuel as the excess can cause the rings to coke up and a loss of compression. That's the reason I originally fitted it to my vehicles. Her car has been getting harder to start and I saw signs of the ring coking. In an attempt to make up for my slackness, I fitted up a WI system to try and reverse any effects of the veg overfueling. Being a turbo I have done things a little different this time. To trigger the water from a subaru washer bottle, I used …

I have noticed over the last couple of weeks the old girl is blowing Shiploads of smoke, particularly under any throttle setting over cruise. My son commented on it yesterday and I followed him in the other POS. When he gave it some I realised I have the perfect bank robbery getaway vehicle. It may not be fast but it has it's own built in smoke/ invisibility screen. I have also come to suspect the fuel return line is blocked going by the increased difficulty in bleeding the air out after filter changes when seems to require cracking the banjo bolt. The thing has also been leaking from the cap in the centre rear of the IP but I think that is just the hardening of the…

Well I went for a beach run with the misses and child and come across some mounds. I thought F it.. Let's flex.. This is a stock OME 2" lift kit with a 1" body lift and rear stabilizer factory disconnected.. It had a good inch left in the rear tube and wasn't on the bump stop yet.. Cheers from Westy Westy's Accessories.

This is going to be long and sound like a letter to a newspaper column but I'm a bit desperate to know what the right thing to do is. I have a friend that I met at school which is 30+ years ago. He's been like a brother to me and when my brother was Killed many years ago and I seriously thought I was going to loose the plot, this bloke was there for me in a way I can't describe but was instrumental in me ever getting over it. That was one of many things he's been there for me with. Whenever I have been in the shit, he's been there with a shoulder to cry on and a helping hand of support and encouragement. The last few years he's gone off on a tangent I nor anyon…

No Nissan haven't come to there senses... I was working on the car today with my lil girl inside the can as mum had to shoot down the street. Popped my head in the door to find this And it got me thinking that this lil one is the Q's 3rd gen. My parents bought this back in 91 when I was 5yrs old. I was the eldest of 4 (3boys and a girl). As you can guess with 4 kids in the country it copped a beating.. But living in the country is why it's still going with nearly 1/2 million on the clock. It's put me and my 2 bro's threw our drivers license and had multiple camping trips threw the years. Now I have it after the parents went to the dark side (Prado).. And I hop…

Gday guys. Very new to this I just purchased a 2004 guiv zd30 manual. I have read into nads and have a boost gauge, pyrometer and provent 200 on the way but I have heard that I may need a different Dawes and needle valve set up compared to the earlier models due to a higher rate of vacuum. Can anyone shed any light on the matter.

Anyone running both Chemtech Diesel Power and 2 stroke oil on every fuel tank fill? I've been adding 2 stroke oil in to fuel tank every fill for last 12 months, unfortunately my local Supercheap store is no longer selling the one I've been using (Gulf Western 2 stroke). So got a bottle of Chemtech Diesel Power for now and now I'm thinking maybe it would be beneficial to run both at the same time. Any experience with this? Cheers

Mine has gone.. It snapped the pivot a while back, so I repaired it but didn't get it spot on. Now it's loaded the left side rail and it bent under the extra weight.. Been looking.. City dismantles in Adelaide are useless.. 3 phone calls and no returns.. And the local yard wants $150 for a complete seat with a massive tear down the outside edge... Is this still a fair price?? Or are the cousins changeable easily??

Quick question about the autometer gauges, and getting the temp sender and boost line through the fire wall. Did you guys drill 2 holes through the fire wall and use the grommets they give you with the gauges? Cause I can't really see any room the the standard one? Also with the power for the gauges should I use the power from my UHF? It's hooked directly to my battery? Wouldn't that mean the gauges are always powered and flatten the battery? Also whers the best to get the light power from? Any help would be greatly appreciated Regards Jesse

Looking at getting ecutalk but I think because my 4.2tdi has consult port I can't use others like scan gauge or ultra-gauge which are odb compliant. Are there any others out there or is ecutalk the only option? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
