+1, yeah where is our "winter break"? F-ing polies, these leeches are sucking Australia dry, going off on their tax payer funded convenient Northern hemisphe summer season so called winter break. I'm absolutely astounded that they can getaway with this, perhaps the voters stupidy, ignorance and sheer naivety allows for these rorts to continue. Cheers
  2. You going to find that these so called Asian packaging standards are actually Euro trash invention it is just that Asian are so good at copying everything and inventing nothing. In Australia we are ignorant folks and if it wasn't for Button plan we'd all be driving HQ Holdens or XF Falcons unabated. The motto in here is "if it ain't broken don't fix it" and going to improved/better packaging means more cost impost on what is already last century production tech we seems to love so much here. (actually we used to buy leftovers/old stuff from mother England for years indeed we are probably still doing it.) Asians know and get Euro trash engineers to install/design latest tech so they can export back to Europe. Cheers

"Every breath you take"...... we can tax youuuuuuu.... Cheers
  4. The windscreen seal possibly or remove the panel covering wipers mechanism(the piece between bonnet and windscreen) there are some grommets under there which tend to leak after a while and also the little drains in the corners get blocked with debris/dirt. By any chance you didn't have a windscreen changed in the past? Cheers
  5. WTF!, buy the submarine dude! I'd hated the suction noise inside the cab. Gosh there are some crazy people and lookm at the filth inside. Cheers
  6. Those rules are national rules: NATIONAL CODE OF PRACTICE for LIGHT VEHICLE CONSTRUCTION and MODIFICATION NCOP6 SECTION LH BODY AND CHASSIS VERSION 2.0 JANUARY 2011 Here is a relevant section if lazy to look for VSB14: ........ 4 BASIC MODIFICATIONS WITHOUT CERTIFICATION The following modifications may be carried out without certification under an LH Code, provided that the vehicle continues to comply with relevant ADRs and AVSR and provided that the vehicle meets the following general safety requirements. 4.1 BONNET SCOOPS AND PROJECTIONS Modifications to the bonnet of a vehicle must take into account the possibility that a pedestrian or cyclist might strike the scoop or bonnet projection in a collision. The top surface of a scoop must not be more rigid than the original bonnet. For vehicles manufactured prior to 1 July 1988, there are no specific design rule requirements relating to bonnet scoops. However any such fixture that is a dangerous protrusion or obstructs the driver’s forward view of the road, is prohibited by both the ADRs and AVSR. For vehicles manufactured on or after 1 July 1988, ADR 42/... prohibits external or internal protrusions that are not technically essential and are likely to increase the risk of bodily injury to any person. Rigid engine-mounted components that are likely to increase injuries to a pedestrian in a collision must not project through and above the vehicle’s original bonnet profile, unless protected with a cover mounted to the bonnet. Bonnet-mounted scoops must meet the following requirements:  When a 165mm diameter sphere is placed on the bonnet in front of the scoop (or bonnet projection) and rolled rearwards until it touches the scoop, no point of contact between the sphere and the scoop must lie above a horizontal plane passing through the centre of the sphere (refer Figure in previous post); .............................................................................................................................. Last time I checked Queensland is still part of Commonwealth of Australia no matter how hard you are trying to be different Cheers
  7. Here is the excerpt from the last year vehicle mod code:
  8. I wanted to ad something meaningful but TBH I can't be bothered. Next time you wander "what is next" look at your fellow citizens and the crap they are up to, than you'll know what is next! This is why this nation has become "a nanny nation". Because there are so many stupid, ignorant, pathetic morons out there not wanting to share/live on "brown land" of ours, that this proverbial road to hell gets paved with good flawed intentions! Cheers
  9. Changed engine oil (was given drum of Havoline 10W-40 apparently contender for Nissan oil which Shell landed in the end. Anyone using this oil?) and oil filter from Western Filters also replaced drain plug with Fumoto drain valve. In the hindsight could/should get the standard unit this sticks a little bit out. Cheers
  10. Looking at the price from 4WD Systems they did come down in price (I forked out $495 two years ago) installation is labour intensive, you need to strip down both sides front hubs, pull the drive shafts out, drop front prop shaft, sway bar and tie rod......all sorts of brackets Nissan puts in the way to piss you off.v It is easier to do on the hoist. So having it installed will probably cost you more than the unit itself and you probably end up with dodgy installation see bellow... Than there is the diff centre, it is f-in heavy to man handle while you lying underneath and not much room to move so extra pair of hands are welcome. On the bench the fun part starts: crown wheel needs to come off in order to take the diff center halves apart, than trying to figure what are those bw instructions actually talking about, and than if you can't get the measurements right the shims have to be machined..... rare but it can happen. Once you assemble the center than crown goes back on and if you don't have access to a press you will have really hard times to tighten the bolts back up (or did I mention to undo them use air impact wrench) Next part is even more fun as if you are following their instruction you can't get the bearing caps back in the same spot and of you force it than you will cause damage to the threads. If you are not familiar how to set backlash and bearing preloads than you are in another pickle. Once it i is all assembled you can fit it back. Combine this job with your hub bearings/seals service, you can try/avoid axle seals damage (more stuff to replace), don't forget a new gasket for the diff, new oil etc. If you've got auto hubs fitted you need to make them manual only and/or fit manual units Did I miss anything? Its a big job particularly when the things don't go according to a plan which they usually never do. Another thing, I dealt with 4WD Systems only twice and will never ever do again. Their customer service is .... what service?! Knowing what I know now the E-locker from States looks more attractive. Cheers
  11. This is how : ....... "can be accessed (i) as an ad-supported free-to-the-user service having no monthly cap on listening hours or a cap on number of plays of a unique track during the first 6 months following creation of your Spotify account but thereafter a cap of 10 listening hours per month and a cap of 5 plays per unique track (the "Free Service"), (ii) as an advertisement free version of the Spotify Service for which you pay a monthly or yearly subscription (the "Unlimited Service"), (iii) as an advertisement free version of the Spotify Service including an offline mode which makes it possible to listen to music without a connection to the Internet via conditional downloads and other additional features for which you pay a monthly or yearly subscription (the "Premium Service"), and (iv) as a version of the Spotify Service that provides access to aspects of the Spotify Service via a supported mobile handset". .................. Which means that they cram your bandwidth with ads and you have to be online to listen via some sort of a client like a web/browser type and that is it. There are countless other services like that. The form of micro payments galore..... they're hoping for is to attract you to the service than lock you in and eventually annoy enough so you start forking the cash in small doses so you think it is OK but eventually you'll pay more and the amount will become obscene once you start adding them up. Like millions of "iTunes" store suckers for $0.99 but before you know it you've paid for thousands of them and having none. Selling vapor, you end up perpetually paying for per use/view/listen. Hardly a free stuff. There is no such thing as free lunch/beer/ <insert your favorite description here>. Guess what, the actual broadcast radio station is still free option. Cheers And more crap very much like those KAZAA swindlers "Spotify has a right to allow the Spotify Software Application and the Spotify Service to utilize the processor, bandwidth and storage hardware on your computer or other relevant device for the limited purpose of facilitating the communication and transmission of content and other data or features to you and other users of the Spotify Software Application and the Spotify Service, and to facilitate the operation of the network on which the Spotify Software Application and the Spotify Service runs. So in a nutshell, they gonna use your cpu/bandwidth/storage/electricity to peddle this free stuff to not just you but other "free" users. Is it still free?
  12. No it is not e little man.... . This is actually a safety feature at it has been a part of a cruise control systems for many years. It is called "brake test". The reason for it is obvious and it has nothing to do with brakes actually working but everything to do with cruise control disconnecting when a driver touches/applies brake pedal as it should. So this check confirms for the system that brake pedal switch and back up signal from brake lights do operate. Cheers
  13. You can have sat phone for as low as 700-800 AUD + prepaid calls, but I'm led to believe that HF units are in excess of couple of grand + yearly fees. Is that right Dronus? Chers
  14. It is usually just a diff center, so basically the crown wheel and bearing have to be reused for the old diff. This can pose several challenges especially for those who have no understanding how to tackle this task. The Detroit True-trac™ centre can be had for around 500-600 USD but trouble is to find one for the Nissan Patrol. I had a vague link for for H233 but description was missing letter B but when I digged deeper I found it was only referring to Detroit Locker and not True-trac™ unit. I'm sorta over it now but still peewed off that I can't spend my money on what I want. So I installed Lokka unit and can't really complain apart from heavier steering and rather excessive(in my mind perhaps) pull/torque steer to the center. Of course have to be a little easy on the throttle in very slippery condition or in sand as it wants to go straight instead of turning sorta understeer under power but back off a little and voila its pointing in the right direction. Mind you fitment ain't easy I'd say Lokka instructions trivialize the job a bit. Cheers
  15. Ride seems fine on road not really that stiff, I got winch compatible front and constant load 200 kg+ rear springs, off-road seems the same can't really tell the difference TBH. Cheers
  16. I've got 2" Tough Dog lift kit including 41 mm foam cell shocks, can't really complain yet, only had them for about 4 months. Those shocks were winners of 4WD Action magazine test as best overall (you choose to believe them)not so long ago. Cheers
  17. It is just an info about it, I'm looking for one too... for GU. Cheers
  18. See if you can find Detroit Truetrac to fit and let us know --> http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/TrueTrac.shtml
  19. It depends where any VIN numbers are stamped. In most cases those are on plates afixed to the body and some panel inside the engine bay might be stamped too. Some vehicles with chassis have VIN numbers on the chassis as well. If it is just the ally plates riveted in the firewall than does anyone needs to know? Cheers
  20. Is your 2.8L? that looks like some sort of an ecu, engine ECU addon from that mob, they do aftermarket units. Cheers
  21. Wow, GU (Y61) with with decent Diesel motor, is that even possible or is the price about to skyrocket to extra 30 grand for the new engine gearbox combo like with the Pathfinder/Navarra siblings Cheers
  22. TBH, I would keep it the inter-cooler temp as low as possible. Forgive my ignorance but apart from freezing the lower the temp the better is. Cheers
  23. That shouldn't be related to timing. What happens when you use high/warm up idle switch? Do the engine revs increase or not? Cheers
  24. Dronus, you had to take it one step further..... now I have this disturbing mental image I can't shake out of my head........ Cheers
