Nissan Patrol GU/Y61 (GU Patrol, 1999–2016)

I'm Upgrading from my GQ getting old and need some creature comforts, are there any stories or concerns with taking a GU with Auto transmission up to the CAPE, doing water crossings etc? any risk of getting water down the dipstick? Any advise or suggestions appreicated

Hi all, I'm a long time Patrol owner ('96 TD42 GQ and '98 TD42 GU) and I've recently moved to Perth. I'm looking for suggestions for a decent mechanic and someone to do a pre-purchase inspection on a vehicle. I'm new to the 3l CRD so I'm not up to speed on what to look out for when buying a used 3L CRD. I'd really appreciate any help.

Hi All, I just removed my air filter to inspect it and didn't take much notice of the fitment eg rubber lip seal and a foam sealwhich one was facing up, would you please be able to give advice on how other have their installed.

Hi guys. Got a strange one here. Have owned the truck just over 3 months and slowly overt the last month or a little more it had been getting really difficult to get into 1st 2nd and reverse. At first I thought it was maybe syncros but it was 3 of the gears all around the same time. Also I found a receipt in the glove box for a full gearbox rebuild and clutch replacement 2 years ago less than 30,000ks ago. I've bleed the clutch a few times now and while the clutch feels a lot better the problem has not improved. It feels like the pressure plate maybe cos when I stop and leave it in gear I can feel the truck want to crawl forward like the clutch hasn't fully disengaged. It…

Hello. im new here. so be nice ive had my 2.8 troll for about a year. and a while ago it overheated. pulled over. let it cool. filled her up, went on my way so i could get home n look at it later. now when i pressure test it from the expansion tank, its fine. holds pressure fine, however. when i pressure test it from the radiator. coolant leaks out from the top of the overflow below the expansion tank. is the tank buggerd? yes ive replaced the cap but that didnt work. im thinking the cap isnt sealing on the tank inside properly and leaking pressure? i dont know. should i replace it, ive been quoted $194 from nissan for a new one. and $140 for aftermarket new. so…

i have a 98 2.8 st td ive owned it for about 4 months and planning on heading east in it from perth WA, i have a question on it, its also the first time i have owned a turbo diesel and 15 years between stints in owning a 4be,1) when im driving it in 1st and second gear in peak hour doing say between 5kmph and 25kmph its quiet noisey from the gearbox area,but after i get over 30kmph the noise goes away, also when at idleing i can hear it but not so noisey and when i push the clutch in on idle it dissapears, its a chainy type of noise, im wondering if its either the gearbox or the transfer case, if its the transfer case is there some way of lessening the noise? is it pos…

Hi, I have just brought a new 2013 GU Patrol. It is the Y61 Diesel, Manual, Built March 2013, Compliance plated May 2013 I have noticed when doing hard righthand turns it has a grind noise in the left wheel? I took it to Nissan any they say it's normal? They test drove another new one and they say it makes the same grind noise in the left wheel when doing a righthand turn? I got it in writing that it's normal for a new car to have grind noises in the frontend but to keep an eye on it? I think this is all a bit funnyu and never heard of a grind that is meant to be in a new car? Any suggestions? Ant

G'day all. First entry since joining. My ZD had the usual cardiac arrest shortly after joining. Got 287k out of it. Now completely rebuilt ($9.5k) and going great. Fitted 3"redback exhaust, egr blocked (caused problems) now unblocked, fitted pyro and boost guages. Am currently getting catch can fitted along with a 9"Davies Craig thermatic fan on the intercooler. When I took the items to my motor rebuilder today, he stated that he hadn't fitted a fan before. Can anyone give me some advice re the fitting of same so that I can pass it on to him please?. Hey fellas Will 285 75 x16 fit under a 04 gu wagon ok or do you have to cut some of the guard and mudflap out of the way on the front ? I had to with my GQ when i put them under it.. Can people give me some first hand feedback on the 3.0 auto transmissions? are they problematic like the auto's in the GQ's?

I have a 2013 Y61. It came with a nice AV/GPS unit, but for some reason, it does NOT have steering wheel audio controls. In their wisdom, there is no way to MUTE the device unless you use the steering wheel controls. So, I want to add steering wheel controls. Does anyone know if I need a new clock spring specific for steering wheel audio controls, or can i just but the audio switch control panel and add it? Anyone else added steering wheel audio controls before? TIA..

Hi guys, Was cruising down the highway minding my own business (2000 model ZD30) and she must have over boosted or something and went into (i'm assuming) limp mode. Had no acceleration and lost most power. anyway, after getting back to normal my speedo just starts jumping all over the place. Not in the mood to worry about it, i just go off the GPS to get me the rest of the way. So now i've been driving around a while i've found out the symptoms. It appears that driving up to 60km/h is fine, but anything over 65ks and she starts jumping all over the place again. I'm not so fussed about it cos i know what revs i need for what speed etc but it gets annoying and I have …

Recently installed my racetech oil pressure guage. Went in through a joiner onto a t piece above starter motor. Joiner onto one side of T & into block, otherside of the T into original sensor & aftermarket sensor pointing down towards the ground. It had a very minor leak at first so i have just pulled it all out and redone( with the right deep sockets this time ). I used loctite into blok and into t piece and teflon for both sensors. The original sensor was damaged so i reapalced it. The oil level has never been off the I am getting 10 psi at idle warm even before resealing the sensors. Using penrite HPR15 50. Hi all I was wondering if anyone has rebuilt or put a seal kit through a zd30 power steering pump? Mine feels it is lagging a bit, and being 14 years old it's probably due. If anyone has, was it worth the hassle or is it worth just buying a new unit? It looks like it's going to be a mission to get to!!!

Need a little help with something. After having NADS on for 6 months or so, I noticed the turbo was struggling to hit the 15 i had set originally. After doing a lot of reading about possible causes, i worked out that it was likely the dawes valve, so i pulled it apart, stretched spring a little an re-assembled. First run, i closed needle valve to make sure i was at right boost being 15psi and it hit it no worries at 2000rpm. Now i wind the needle out and i am getting the 5psi @ 1500 &10psi @ 2000 recommendations in 4th but once it gets to 10, it is rocketing to 15 at 2500 rpms. Now don't get me wrong it goes great but i have also read that a safe level would be 3…

Hi, I have a 2003 ZD30 Patrol. I am currently in QLD on holidays from Sydney. I am experiencing extreme power loss and I am not to sure what is going on. The engine has nads ( dawes with HD spring, needle, catch can, EGR block, egt & boost gauges ) staunbaur chip. I drove it up from Sydney and it was running great. I had to tweak the needle a little as it was cruising on 15psi eventually getting it to cruise at 100 at about 10psi. I took it to fraser island and I was extremely happy with it on the sand and then I stopped for lunch after driving from Bottom of island to kingfisher bay and it became an absolute dog with no power. As I've mentioned in another thread, i purchased a new interior and i am in the process of replacing the old one. When i ripped out the old interior and carpet i found water along the drivers side of the vehicle on the inside. I got rid of the water, sanded all the rust back, rust painted the floor pan in all the low lying areas. Anyway thats where i got to, then the rains came.. for a solid week its been pissin down. My truck is parked on the driveway outside. Anywhoo the suns out again today and i went out to start on the truck again, give it its last coat of rust paint.
