  1. I got a bit nervous when i heard about how water can get into the control box for the winch. I ran silicoln around all the screw holes but was concerned about the plug where the controller goes if the cap didnt seal correctly. Being that my car doesnt get driven much during the week i had an idea to make a cover that can go over the control box to keep rain out while its sitting there, or even while driving. Here is version 0.1a. It looks pretty good but i need to test out its waterproofness and how long it will last outside. What do you think? Maybe if i can refine it, and the price is right people might like one for their winch control box? Click on the photos for a better image.
  2. Just a quick guide on how i replaced the indicator assemblies in my factory Nissan Winch Bar. I bought the replacement units from OzLED. You can get cheaper versions direct from China, but OzLED supplies to the emergency services here in Australia and the lights are ADR Approved so you wont have any problems with insurance or the Fuzz. The set i bought fit exactly into my bull bar, the only thing i had to do was the wiring. Being that i prefer to solder and heat shrink everything (i hate those dodgey crimp things!!) the job took a little bit longer. The lights come in a pack of 2, are fully sealed and have this chrome bezel to finish it off. A picture tells a thousand words so its perfect to show how the wiring gets done. Drivers side Passengers side Old New Parkers old and new Indicators old and new Quite an easy mod, stops the dreded "my indicators are full of mud and water" issues and i think looks pretty good.
  3. Now that my spare is on the telstra bar the cabling to my rear work light is a bit exposed too. I was just thinking on the weekend about drilling a hole for it to go below the mount to neaten it up.. I would have to take my barn door table off again to get behind there and it might not survive that operation so I'll have to invent v2.1 first. Being that the barn door table interacts with the rear shelves, which are out and I'm considering building v2.4 of - it got too hard after running out of beer while staring at the back of the car so I left it... 4. interesting. Obviously the external parts would be the same as its the same body. Wonder if the air box connection is the same or if it would need modifying. Could someone with a 4.2 post a picture of their air filter box and the connection through the firewall to the snorkle? I'll do the same for the 3ltr unless someone beats me to it.. 5. Awesome, this demystifies what most people think is a major task. Great guide!
  6. I've caught some decent snapper and Australian salmon off our southern beaches. Caught a nice Spanish mackerel off towsnsville once. I'll dig some pics out... Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  7. Cool thanks. I found one on eBay but will start keeping an eye out for them. I showed the missus but she just rolled her eyes and went back to the TV.. if she won't get excited about that I'm not sure how she is going to react to the recovery points and kit I'm eyeing off
  8. Whoops I whacked some in both just in case.
  9. That looks very neat. Could i ask where you bought it from, it looks like exactly what i have been looking for. I was going to get a couple of voltmeters on ebay and make something up but that looks a lot neater..
  10. Looks pretty nice! Thanks for posting the guide!
  11. Sorry, never used it. Ive tried a few oils (Magnatec, Penrite and Delo400) and have allways gone back to the Dello. Patrol seems to like it, so so do I!
  12. Once i do my glow plug timer mod, this might be my next one... before my next big trip anyway
  13. Sure, here is a couple of pics...
  14. I've been doing lots of reading recently about cleaning the inlet manifold after blocking the egr. Lots of different people with different ideas. I've got some pics of inlet manifolds which are so blocked with soot its crazy that the engine actually runs.. I'll dig them up and post them here.. What are your thoughts on the likely hood of the inlet cleaning itself to an extent overtime after the egr is blocked? Or is it just going to stay the same? The gunk I've seen in them is almost like tar. I dont really want to pull it apart to clean it, and the idea of squirting stuff in there doesn't excite me. If its running fine, and the egr is blocked, should one just leave it? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  15. What is that funny looking animal behind the fish?
  16. Sweden hej, take lots of photos for me.. beautiful place with lots of good looking chicks. Not many patrols though Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  17. That's the hardest bit - when around others who are smoking. Great to hear that you resist the addiction and don't crumble. The best thing is to recognise what your triggers are, and know how to deal with them (flight or fight). Soon enough the smell of cigarette smoke goes from a smell your brain associates with pleasure and craving (the chemicals do that to your brain) to what a non smoker smells which is pretty rank. Enjoy the fresh air, and soon enough your patrol will be back on the road and you will have ongoing spare money to spend on fuel so you can get out on some tracks! I need to join this "angry club" too.. I work as an IT Manager and the crud I have to put up with - no wonder IT people get jaded and sarcastic! My mannerisms are getting close to the same as Roy on "the it crowd" Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  18. Keep it up mate, every day is another day closer to giving them up for good! You will look back and ask yourself why you wasted so much money buying those things! More money for the patrol! Then you can become a reformed smoker and get angry at the smokers! Win Win! Don't listen to the people who want you to fail, prove 'em wrong! I used the quit line, they were great, annoying at times but they know what they are doing.. i used to smoke over a pack a day but been off them for 13years (stopped the day my daughter was born!) Lots of the crap will be coming out of your body by now, it gets better after about 1-2 weeks. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

  22. Replaced the inter cooler fan mounting kit, tightened up the hose clamps. Fixed a leaking crankcase breather to catch can pipe. Drove it for the first time all week. All ways good to take it for a drive.
  23. Yeah only says 4.2. I've all ready got a snorkel but a few mates just got a bulk deal on safari snorkels, think they were about $300ea.. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

I have a SWR meter if anyone needs one to trim their AM antenna. Fairly sure as mentioned UHF antennas are pre tuned and don't need calibration Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
