  1. G'day mate, I'm not sure about updating GQ mirrors but for GU there is a company "Clearview mirrors" GU towing mirrors contact them maybe they'll have something for you. Cheers
  2. G'day mate, Welcome to the forum, make yourself at home here and feel free to contribute to the discussions Best Regards
  3. There is but specialist tool for injection equipment is required ===> That's for fine tuning subject to the pump being correctly timed to the engine in first place ==>
  4. Combination meter is your dashboard display unit, gauges etc. Cheers
  5. Mate, 2000 GU with 1990 TD42, you're on your own....on GU TD42 there is a sensor mounted on the timing cover.
  6. There should no oil leaking out of boost controller. I'm assuming you mean waste gate actuator piston. If that's the case that means either turbo is not OK or better the amount of blow-by gases contain so much oil that it now contaminates the intake side of the turbo where it then gets to the actuator via the boost controller pressure hose. Possible solution to that if thats the case is to fit catch can or oil separator to the breather hose between rocker cover and intake hose before turbo charger compressor housing. As for the overheating issue just make sure the fan is working (you should feel certain resistance in viscous coupling clutch when engine is cold and stationary if it spins easily check for tell tale traces of dust build up on the fan hub around the center of the shaft, that means silicon oil has leaked out, or and this is crucial you don't have the radiator blocked either externally (easily checked with workshop light) or internally (common problem) blocked which requires specialist to confirm. Cheers
  7. Replaced failed Auber red boost gauge with the blue one, rewired ignition signal to fuel pump from wiper motor to "spare" dif lock solenoid harness conveniently fitted by Mr Nissan but sitting in there idly.... Another CC idea fcuk up (used the intercooler fan wiring which is no longer used/removed for electric lift pump) using wiper motor ign signal as a source! WTF! Everytime wipers are on the voltage drop caused the signal to fail ...... Cheers
  8. G'day mate welcome to the forum. Feel free to contribute as appropriate, we need more members to contribute .... it can be very quiet sometimes when everyone is just lurking and not posting. Cheers
  9. G'day mate, 4.2 L is pretty much NADS mod free as it is quite reliable. Most people mod 4.2 L to gain more power out of it not extend its reliability. Mods for TD42 (4.2 L) are far from little simple things. Most if not all require major hardware changes comparing to NADS where these are just little add ons. EGR mod is simple enough though and gives extra gain in low to mid torque except not entirely legal. Because TD42 is pure mechanical beast it is also limited by those mechanicals. I'm assuming yours is turbo version aka TD42T. First going on by bigger exhaust certainly helps the thing but major problem with TD42 is the fuel limiting factor. Cheap and nasty mod is to fiddle with adjustment of the "smoke compensator" on the injection pump, another is advancing injection timing by moving pump on its elongated mounting holes to increae advance etc, Very positive change reported is to add good quality auxilliary fuel lift pump, changing to bigger intercooler, resizing the intake starting from snorkel piping to replacing airbox and associated piping and then proceding to change to UEFI turbo and inlet manifold. TBH, increasing power output also put extra strain on cooling system and TD42 is known for overheating so aftermarket radiator with increased capacity and properly functioning engine fan is a must. The next level is scary (exensive as if the other mods aren't) as that involves the fuel pump insides modifications (fuel plunger size up). Me personally, I'd fit catch can, 3' exhaust and better intercooler with decent snorkel/intake piping and airbox and that's it as far as the mods are concerned. Of course the usual as boost and EGT gauges fit applies. I'd also invest is some sort of low coolant level warning, custom coolant temp gauge (factory one is useless) and perhaps oil pressure gauge. Cheers
  10. Not very descriptive but that's typical Nissan I suppose ===>
  11. Please, post the sketch on how you wired it up. Cheers
  12. Congrats on sorting it out. Cheers
  13. Good stuff, I agree with ricster, you should post some pics if you can. Cheers
  14. I have fitted several earth cables already, one between chassis and body and another between engine, chassis and body. I did fit heat shield to the aux battery now too. I think 2 batteries were cooked and drained dead too often, one got shaken to bits during Simpson Desert crossing and one simply failed (poor manufacturing perhaps) and I had to replace the OEM battery after 8 years of flawless performance. I went back to old style wented caps flooded type as Patrol has zero capacity left in its alernator for the fancy new types with higher charging rate. Regards

Hell yeah, really like it. Simple, clean and very modern. Wish the rest of Interwebz was like.... Regards
  16. Yes, they will fit but don't forget to obtain "egg spacer rings" as well and make sure the shaft end float is within certain tolerances between the shaft's circlip. You will need shorter bolts too. Cheers Converting auto hubs to manual takes 10 mins, vice and large screwdriver to pry out the auto clutch. Good as any manual hubs conversion. Regards
  17. G'day mate, I'm currently overseas and nowhere near my Patrol and manuals, as far as I can remember on the range section on LHS rear part of the housing you should be able to see a switch with cables going in. Two wires only. When in 4WD or low range there should be continuity accross the switch. If that works then you have wiring issue. Best regards
  18. Replaced another battery, the main one this time, I'm so over this shyte, so far 5 batteries in 5 years........ Bought classic vented lead acid one instead of those crap MF sealed POS. Seems like my shitbox runs on lead acid fuel, lol. Cheers
  19. I can commiserate not laugh mate, However having rear bar can have its advantages like moving the spare wheel to it from underneath to gain better ground clearance. The problem with SRS airbag equipped vehicles is that any bars in front of crumple zones can affect the deployment of the air bags. To get it engineered one needs to have that theory tested either in simulation software or actually slamming the vehicle with such bar to a crush barrier. "One off" designs are notoriously difficult but not impossible. If you can find an engineer willing to put his name to it all is needed is certification that it doesn't interfere with the deployment of the SRS airbags that's all. The spring rate for bull bar vehicles doesn't necessarily lift the end higher it just stiffens up the sag and rebound rate if it is correctly dimensioned. TBH, the Y62 is the one big lie Nissan has managed to spread in Australia. It is not Patrol, just re-badged and cosmetically changed Infinity Q56 in production since 2004 and on sale in America and Middle East for years. It is a terrible alternative/successor to off road vehicle worth carrying Patrol badge, it has too low load carrying capacity (hence no 8 seater for Ti) otherwise it breaks its GVM as well. It is luxury "SUV" (that it is a misnomer) designed to compete against BMW M5 or Mercs M class not to climb Vic high country goat tracks or cross Simpson desert. Just because it has low range it doesn't qualify as serious off roader for long trips to wilderness/outback. It would do it but who is brave enough to take so much luxury there..... It all depends what you want to do with it but you could get ARB Sahara bar for it (not bad looking) it would substitute that horrible looking bumper and also you could get that lift to go with and that means vehicle can be more usable for off road trips. Rear bar looks good too.
  20. Definitely GQ bullbar will not fit GU space. Completely different vehicle shapes. Cheers
  21. Well, if you are "a good sucker" (pun not intended) then you should see the valve moving. This applies to ZD30 vacuum applied actuator. For TD42 good luck blowing in to get the waste gate valve to move..... You could use spare tyre pressure and rig up temporary source of pressure at certain level. Cheers

I was wondering WTF happened....Glad it is sorted out. Cheers
  23. Ouch, does yours have "hydraulic body motion system" aka HBMC? Apparently Ontrack 4x4 in Keilor, Melbourne have developed a kit for Ti-L Y62s. Regards
