Fuel manager
I put in a CAV filter and tossed the original. Elements don't last quite as long but at 1/4 the price, I'm ahead. Also easier to get from any car parts, truck, tractor or machinery place. Water indicators are no good to me as unlike Diesel, veg WILL absorb water. As I use all my own fuel with the exception of half a tank of Dino in 2 years, I know what I'm putting in and that it is water free. I put in a Walbro Pump because the OEM wouldn't keep up with the fuel demands of the Firebreathing, Tyre shredding NA 4.2. Actually, being on oil, I think the fuel supply is only just even with the pump. I have yet to hear of any fuel hose that will stand up to B100 for more than 3 years. No matter how exy, most start weeping and go soft and sticky at around 2. I just change out the less than one meter of soft hose every year. That lets me run the cheap stuff without any problems.

The stupidity of the Green movement
Go back a few steps.... Making cardboard requires a lot more energy input, processing chemicals and emissions than producing a bit of ordinary wood. The wood has to be chipped, pulverised, cooked, If the cardboard is reycycled, thats worse because it takes more energy input still than going from raw materials. So to me the idiocity is the fact they made this using a lot more energy and planet UNfriendly processes just to be trendy than what simply mounting the mechanism on a plain laqured would have required. I'm pretty sure wood was biodegrading on the bush floor before all this eco crap came along. Show me something " Green", eco friendy, Biodegradeable or anyother trendy term related to saving the environment and 99% of the time I'll show you something that is WORSE than the regular product and is nothing more than a scam playing on this whole marketing Hype.

Bloody Google!
GOD I HOPE SO! I know I'm weird, I must be. It seems I am one of the few individuals on the planet that dosen't have their nose buried in their phone with people Twit ing ( There's an appropriate name!) them with face ache updates every 5 min. Not only is it kids, the adults are every bit as bad! I was at a casual dinner a couple of weeks ago with a bunch of guys I know, none under 50, all of them high level management or CEO's and even they couldn't resist checking faceache on their phones and reading out messages people had sent them I really found that incredible. I have NEVER looked at faceache on my phone and the only times I do regrugingly use it is for business. With email, MSN, texting and that ancient practice of actualy Ringing someone, WTF do you need to be talking to people on faceace for.???

Bloody Google!
Faceache amazes me. People put their whole boring lives on that for the world to see. Birthdates, where they work, Live, go out, who their friends are. A veritable gold mine for identity theft if ever there was one not to mention all sorts of other iligitimate uses I can't even Imagine but I bet the scammers have a field day with. As for google, yep, I have an account and it is full of misinformation like everything else I have to sign up for. Different name, Age is years out, birthdate is months off and the wrong date, location, occupation are all fantasy and unrelated. I only give my spam email so I can get the signup info and then clean all the garbage out next time I want to use it. They want to track me or make some marketing profile they are going to have to work Damn hard for it.

WOW CHEAP GQ
My favourite is on Ebay when they say " Reserve the right to end the auction early as Item is advertised elsewhere". I email them and ask where else the item is advertised and how much as I'd like to have a look with a View to buying it outright. Only ever had one response and that guy got rather upset for some unknown reason.

Good Suggestion. I would go this way myself now the idea has been brought up.

Oh dear, I'll get lambasted by the sparkys and you'll get a whole heap of pedantic safety warnings but anyway.... 15a Plugs have a bigger earth pin to prevent them being plugged into standard 10 A sockets. The earth pin is wider which makes it nice and easy to file it back to the 10A size or you can just change it. Alternately you can fit a 10A plug. Now pratical and realistic practice aside from rules and regulations and gloom and doom, unless you have the machine right cranked up, it will never draw 15A anyway. I'd say most of the setting I use on my machine wouldn't have it drawing 5a. The wiring on a 10A plug is rated to 15A but that is for all the circuit. You could run your 15A welder off that circuit at full tilt with complete safety PROVIDING you weren't running anything else at the same time. The circuits are 15a TOTAL so if you are using all your allowance in one go, that's it. It's the same with anything. You can't run the clothes dryer and the Iron and the washing machine off the same circuit ( even though they are different powerpoints) becaue you'll pop the fuse or the breaker. Now if - I - ever had the need to run 15a appliances off a 10 a point ( Not that I ever would because that would be unsafe and I'd cop petty grief from safety zealots ) what I would do is simply plug the appliance into a 10A powerboard that had its own circuit breaker. That way if I was sucking too much juice for the outlet, the board would pop before the main house fuse or breaker did. Again, pratical application wise, there is no chance of you causing any situation if you use your 15a welder on a 10A circuit with nothing else in use on the circuit. The wiring is actually rated for 15A or more, and the outlet and the plug will take 15 A as well. as soon as you do cause an overload, the fuse or the breaker on you main board will go which is it's function to protect the rest of the wiring. Sorry for the long explaination but I wanted to clarify a few things before the saftey Nazi's jumped in.

First one is HEAPS Better. 6 power settings instead of 4. To me, that's a big advantage because the more power settings the better you can match the output to the job you are doing. Also uses the Binzel torch Fittings which are a standard and easy and cheap to get. Much better than the typical chinese who flung Dung fittings. 180 A Vs 120. You'll probably rarely use the thing flat out if your doing home type stuff however having the extra amps would give you a better duty cycle and mean one machine was cruising where the other one was working up a sweat. Perhaps the biggest tell tale to me is the weight. 26.5 Vs 38 Kg. Mates and I say ALWAYS buy tools and electronics by weight. In this case I would suspect that the first machine has Aluminium windings where the other one has the much more robust ( and heavier) copper windings. That one point alone would win the case for the first machine for me. One thing you will have to do with the first one is either change the power plug or file down the earth pin if you don't have a 15A outlet. As long as you don't go over about 140A, You'll be fine. I have a 150A machine and The only time I took it that High was to weld a towbar Tounge and that was probably a bit hot anyway. In this case, the cheaper is definately the better machine. In fact, the other one is a piece of crap in comparison and probably pretty crappy anyway.

Another Uluru?
I think it's more like trying to appease a bunch of greedy whingers that will never be satisfied. If we all pissed off and left them to the place " to care for the land the'd still be unhappy because there would be no one to pay tax to go towards the welfare so many of them are on. I''ll bet they would freak if they had to go back to their tribal ways. Any time anyone wants to do something which have value, the abbos start claiming sacret sites or historical significance. I heard of a case recetly where they were building a new section of the pacific highway and once they started on this particular section, all the sudden there is some historicaly significant artifact that they claim and all work has to cease. Just like anything else that tris to be built. In this case the roads mob had already confered with the local and broader aboriginal leaders and boards and the route had been given the ok. as work progresses all the sudden they claim some sacret site because Some black fella pissed against a tree when he was out hunting 1000 years ago. In this case there was no doumentation anywhere of this trees significance, no stories of how it bacaome significant and no one in the area had ever heard of it before. Because some couple of drunken black bums all the sudden make a non substantiated claim, the work gets held up for a full 9 months while they deliberate over it. As it turned out, the contractor " accidently" knocked the tree over and shredded it before the mistake was realised. The upshot was there was a small fortune painfd in compensation ( to whom I'd like to know) and they had to build a park off the side of the road with a plaque and a little Plinth commemorating the significance ( whatever it was) of the nearby spot. Frankly I find all this reconcilliation crap a load of bollocks. They never want some worthless spot, it has to be something of a tourist attraction of have mining value or something else. They should get 12 months to plot all these sites on a map and after that, if it's not on the map, too flucking bad. No more inventing them as you go. I'd also like to know where all this repatriation etc ends? How much are they going to want before the matter is settled? There won't be a landmark left in the country that isn't some sacred site or rubbish the way they are going. I wonder if the amount of money paid to the abbos each year in welfare and grants and other special treatment is ever put towards settiling the Debt? That would be 10's of millions that they are getting that ought to be wiped off the slate. Maybe we should just give them what they want and then say, OK debt settled, no more pentions and welfare and special treatment for you. You now have your own assets and land etc, You support yourselves. Yeah, they would be happy with that wouldn't they? :0)

Today wasn't a bad day.
This morning was OK, pretty average with nothing much happening ( as usual) but the afternoon picked up quite nicely. Had an appointment to go see someone about a contract type Job. I was confident I'd get the gig after having spoken to them on the phone and being worth about $10K, was rather keen to get it. Much to my great satisfaction, not only did I get that job, but a bigger one was well with one of their other centres. All up about $25K worth of work over a month. Should start in about 2-3 weeks. Stoked. When I got home I had an email for another gig I put in for ( way back last year) and they wanted to find out If I was still available in 2 weekends time. That one will probably be worth another $1500 for the morning/ early afternoon. This evening I have got 4 requests out of the blue from 4 attractive and pretty well established models to shoot new folio material for them. One of the agencies must be having an update of their comp cards, talent sheets or website. 2 of the girls although established seem to have a lot of potential to go a lot further and the other 2 are moving into presenting and TV work. As well as getting the gigs themselves, it will be good to get some of my work around with the right people with potentialy more leads. Haven't done much with agency models in a while so that will be a bit of fun getting back into that and see how it goes. Also had another "model" contact me this morning who is interested in shooting some highly dignified material for those with a reverse Mensa intellect. Those garbage T&A mags are an easy if not great earner. but god I wonder what sort of blokes would regularly buy them? Any woman that is prepared to get her gear off and hasn't previously been run over by a cattle truck will get in and the photographic technical requirements don't go much past get her bits in the shot, get her bits in decent focus and have enough light so her bits are easy to see. Submit about 100 frames and they will print 4-6. It's money I can well use, it's easy work and I might even get a cover for a tear sheet out of it so I'm happy. I can definately go out and buy some new gear now but I'll also have to get stuck into redoing all my computers and servers I have been putting off. Anyway, all in all a pretty good day for me. Funny how there's nothing or it comes all at once though.

Losing oil from engine
Have a look at the Sikaflex products. Not cheap and you won't need much but they seem to be able to do some pretty amazing sealing jobs.

An insult to timber
All I can say is the designer that did the smaller bits especially has their taste in their arse. None of it goes together, relates or in any way to is asthetically pleasing. I have no idea why they selected wood but I'm sure with the right talent it could have been something. Looking at what they have come up with, I'm not all together sure that "Wood" isn't plastic, Either way, the presentation and execution is a fail.

....But then again, Maybe karma is the dog does meet an early demise for the annoyance and stress it is causing which is detrimental to your quality of life. I love animals but there is a line to what you put up with from them. I had a cat I loved. Dam thing wouldn't stop pissing everywhere though. Ruined a good TV, a computer, expensive UPS and other things. I might have tolerated it if it just pissed in the corner on the floor or something but getting up on things was too much. Nothing was safe. I miss the bugger but I couldn't put up with it's filthy habits so he had to go. I still look at pics and it pulls the heart strings but the immieadiate memory of the place stinking and turning on things that would start spitting and sparking before emitting an odour that was overpowering soon justifies any doubts I had about getting rid of him.

Sound, Rust & Waterproofing My Shorty
Nah, Tried that one. They then throw a clause in about it having to be a retail competitor and trade joints aren't their competitor. I told them, if you are loosing a sale to them, There is no question they are your competitor. Only reason I went back to them is because the other place had run out! :0) Sure do. It's one of the few shops I can spend an hour in and not be bored. They are a great convinence store. When you want a bunch of different things, its easier to pay a few bucks more and get it all in one go than chase round to 4 different places to get a couple of items from each. When you need a heap of stuff, they it's worthwhile going where you need to in order to get it at the right price. What pisses me off with them is I find they have a limited and broken range. The other day I was there and wanted a 32>25mm PVC pressure pipe reducer. They had 20>15, 25>20 and 40>32 but no 32>25. I asked the guy if they had any stock that they didn't have out but he said they never carried them. I said why would you not have them when you have every other size? He just shrugged and said I don't know but I get asked for them a bit. Hmmm., Won't absorb water. It's treated not to so it dosent absorb condensation off pipes and duct work.

Below Zero
I had one of those and found the same thing. Using it as sparingly as possible, it was still difficult to get a fortnight out of a bottle and that was with not using it through the day at all. Very expensive way to heat. If you have your own wood supply, wood heaters are great. If you have to buy it, they become very expensive as well. I built a wood fired oven and fuel that with old pallets I find around the factories. where ever there is a pile of them, they also have a stack of broken ones they are getting rid of. I'm glad to help out becuase the broken ones are a lot easier to cut up into suitable sizes. I'm in the process of building an outdoor oil fired heater. I'll have it heat water and circulate that through a radiator(s) with a fan to bring the heat in.

Sound, Rust & Waterproofing My Shorty
For those interested in the bunnngs stuff, I'd try some trade places for it. Bunnings can be VERY exy on some things despite the advertising Hype. I buy a lot of plumbing fittings and get them from a Large Plumbing/ roofing Joint. On average gal fittings for isntance are about 1/3 the price they are at Bunnings. Copper and plastic is about the same, always less than half Bunnings price. I have found the same with electrical stuff from the wholesalers and timber especially. I imagine this stuff would be available from the bigger plumbing joints that do roofing materials or trade joints that cater to the stuffs primary use. It really pays to shop around for anything you need in Qty or is exy from bunnings. It's rare to find they are the cheapest and I'm yet to ever have a problem buying from a trade joint even specialist AC and gas Fitting stuff. For the firewall stuff, The Aircon trade use a foil backed closed cell foam for insulation and noise reduction purposes on ducting and big cooling tower type jobs. It comes in various widths but I usualy get it about 1200 wide. It's a good 10mm thick and would be good for the firewall or transmission tunnel where you also wanted to stop heat radiating through to the cabin. I forget the price but it's pretty cheap as it gets used by the mile. There is also a foil backed tape that is used with the foam for joining it and maintaining the same appearance. That isn't the cheapest stuff around but it sticks like chit to a blanket and takes the foil off the foam if you have to remove it 24 hrs later.

Nah, When push came to shove i'd probably be the same way. I believe in Karma as well. Every time I get my doubts, I hear of something I have had first hand experience with that fully restores my absoloute belief.

Howto kick start this forum?
Getting back to the topic, I think the forum is off to a great kick start. I was reading stuff before that dosen't even apply to my truck but it was still a good read and great info. I thought right then the worry of a loss of info is exactly as I have been saying. The info is with the members not the site itself. There is a lot of info to be had right now just by asking the people here a question.

Forum Classifieds - Trialing now.
The classifieds is great. I guess there will be some rules on what can be advertised though. I take it Firearms and ammo would be out, Pyramid sales schemes, Escort services and similar things. What I really want to know however, would it be OK to advertise my two teenage children. I reckon $10K each would be cheap but it's all I can afford for someone to take them away!

Find a diabetic and ask them for some of their Dimicron, Januiva or Diabex. Grind one up, put it in the dogs food, it'll have a hypo ( drop it's blood sugar through the floor) when the wife gives the thing its shot and that will be it. Make sure there are no jelly beans, chocolate or other sweet stuff around the Mrs can give the thing to revive it. Do it at dinner time and the thing will go to have a lie down and never get up again. Chihuahua's I have never understood. You wouldn't have a rat runing round the joint as a pet, why have one of these things? I had a client bring one here one time. My big cat stalked the thing, pounced on it and was going for the kill. No question what it thought the thing was.

Banned Club - AKA Bad Boys
There isn't any issue with copying a post from another site. That's just BS started by the ignorant and petty. I think the info is building here faster than many would have imagined and many more would have wanted. If we all make the effort to establish the knowledge base as some others are putting effort into, the rest will quickly take care of itself. A great start for early day's I'd say.
