  1. Changed oil and filter readying for Finke desert race and Simmo trip. Cheers
  2. The most obvious one is gonna be to stay legal so engineering mod plate is probably required. I'm not sure I'd wanna lift a shortie and put 35s on it and drive on public roads. Are we talking off road special/racer? Cheers
  3. I have re-drilled existing holes for top plastic trim and inserted 6 mm rivnuts than used bolts from truck dashboard panels but one can use any bolts really advantage of these ones was that they have slightly bigger shank half way length and also really wide head(like a mushroom/umbrella shaped). Cheers
  4. Good on ya Glort, How does it work? Is it just manipulating waste gate actuator? Cheers
  5. Looks like you've got carby stuck in max position. take the intake pipe off and have a look if you can see throttle flap closed, than see if you can operate it manually. Cheers
  6. Define over revving. Is it like going to max revs on its own or is it increased idle speed.... Cheers
  7. Y62 Patrol Training Manual Full Edition
  8. Refitted inlet manifold and rest of the crap back, what a biatch job, never again....... At least its all clean and hopefully stays clean after appropriate precautions were taken. Cheers
  9. Changed glow plugs, number 1 and number 2 OK, no 3 tip burned off and number 4 partially melted tip. Easy job than decided that I could make an effort to remove inlet manifold to clean it up. Big mistake! Car is in bits, mess everywhere and me not happy.
  10. I've got the gauges from Auberins in States, very good service and priced well but a bit of mission to choose right options/settings if you don't understand instructions --> boost/EGT gauges all auto gauges They've got different LED (standard is red) colours to choose from and wide range of transducers you'll have your head spinning to pick right one. I'd get Auber-303 (its for Diesels) although you can use others e.g. Auber-103 (its more for Petrol cars) or my favorite Auber-205g with 1/8 NPT which means getting 1/4 to 1/8 NTP adapter/reducers in the boost pipe gives you perfect point for all, sensor and Dawes connections. I'm gonna get that one eventually instead of Auber-103 I have (it was sent to me by a mistake) I keep needle valve in the engine bay as I don't want to fiddle with it while I'm driving for start and idea of 2 + meters of vacuum hoses run inside doesn't appeal to me either. Because I use dual Dawes set up the needle valve is sorta just "set and forget" once you set it up right to you likings. Voltage switch to control dual stage Dawes is living under centre console with rest of the relays for glow plugs timer as well(very useful and recommended mod too) As for keeping interior clean, don't be fooled its not that hard I usually clean it once I get sick of getting dirty just getting inside. Cheers Also, Careful what you wish/do as not many workshop actually know what to do with Dawes+needle valve combo. As far as the mentioned biz is concerned they don't seem like reputable mob when it comes to ZD30s indeed any fourby requiring more than a service and filters change.
  11. Actually unless your intercooler is leaking I'll leave as last. You definitely want boost and EGT gauges in there especially with that van of yours. Have a look what I have done with mine (instead of that useless centre console) I prefer those gauges cause they're digital, have smaller foot print and I can fit 2 more, probably oil pressure and fuel pressure units and they also have min/max readout --> and last photo is an idea one bloke from Victoria was willing to part with for around $250 last year. Here would be my list: 1. Provent catch can 2. Boost and EGT gauges 3. Safari snorkel 4. 2x Dawes + needle valve + EGR shim Cheers
  12. Nice van, how does a 4 cyl 3 L engine pulls such sized van? I'd be scared towing something of that size. Cheers
  13. Hi, Welcome to the forum and keep us posted on your NADS journey. Cheers
  14. It is different, I don't mind the blue theme. Cheers
  15. Hello and welcome to the forum. Depending in which state you are based you may not be legal with such tyres which itself means not much but in the case of being involved in an accident situation may change in to very unfavourable for you....... in SA for sure you'd have to get engineering certificate($$$) for tyres and the lift to be clean. NADS are probably safer. First order of biz should be Provent catch can, followed by pyro and boost gauge (you may well use ECUtalk LCD display box similar to Scangauge to read boost actually straight from ECU) As for where to get gauges? E-bay perhaps but be vary of really cheap crap. I use Auber digital LCD units quite affordable, have extra functions (minimum/max values stored)but they're different from your typical round 2" units. Cheers
  16. At Hopes Gully in SA. Cheers
  17. Went to NADS meet this morning and in the afternoon fitted one of these ..... Cheers
  18. You will find that a lot of CrDs are actually terrible with fuel. It seems that there are some inconsistencies in regards the good ones and the really bad ones but underlying causes are mostly either injectors or pump or both or in some cases software issues. CrDs are very sensitive to fuel contamination and damage it causes. You can do the usual check air cleaner, clean MAF sensor, as the cheapest items but eventually the more expensive action is/could/will be required. The worst part is that Nissan will not help you, if anything they will scam you as the incompetence of Nissan dealers is legendary (personally I think it applies to any dealer) If you suspect high fuel consumption and low power that's usually either issue with fuel or air. Air is easier and cheaper to trace/check but fuel system is horrendously expensive and it seems there aren't many specialist around who can actually do proper diagnosis or have equipment to do so. There is for example a known issue with some CrD ZD30 engines not having so called trim codes entered in the ECM from factory so the fuel calculation can be accurate. Good luck Cheers
  19. I think most of us now realize that Y62 is not targeting the 4WD audience but cashed up SUV soccer mums and city professionals with cash to spare who wanna drive luxo barges as a daily with occasional country lane trip for a picnic. Y62 main markets are US and Middle East where exactly same tributes apply, sitting on a freeway in a luxo barge with plenty of power on tap and a service station every 50 miles and of course a status symbol. Nissan is now committed in to making only global cars in other words the market where they sell most dictates what other will get. Its their rationale through ever diminishing profits. Y62 has some impressive tech capabilities out of the box but Diesel engine is a liability these days so Mr Nissan avoids that issue. With 4WD markets shrinking in most places/markets it isn't surprising what is happening with Nissan. Cheers
  20. Technically they're both direct injection Diesels (pre and post 2007). The jury is still out on CrD (Common rail) version of ZD30 and their reliability, there aren't documented cases of failures except for a few, strangely enough piston no 1 on those few unlike in Di where it mainly affected 3 & 4. CrDs seem to have better tolerance to boost and higher EGTs hence less failures. They still suffer from same underlying principles though. Scangauge ® is a "plug and play" that plugs in to OBDII socket but needs to be configured/setup. Well worth investing in to IMHO.
  21. Hello Geoff, Welcome to the forum mate. Hope you gonna enjoy Patrol and uncrowded spaces. Cheers
  22. This could be the results of having brakes done, something left loose, did you have rotors changed as well? Cheers
  23. CrDs can be slightly problematic with Dawes and EGR mods, some even set EGR fault code (DTCo). There are CrD out there working without Dawes and with EGR mod. It seems that they can handle/tolerate higher boost. If you haven't done it yet, fit oil catch can and pyro first. Cheers
  24. HI , welcome to the forum you got awesome unit, Keep up the good work. Cheers
